supieron reaccionar y ganar a los Springboks bi campeones mundiales, por 29-28
(26-22) en ese teatro de los sueños del Estadio Madre de Ciudades en Ciudad de Santiago
del Estero y apuntan a disputar el título del 13º Rugby Championship el sábado 28
en Nelspruit (12:00 hrs).
Completaron la 5ta. y penúltima jornada, los All Blacks que ganaron al último aliento a los Wallabies por 31-28 en el Accor Stadium de Sidney.
Entrenados por el porteño Felipe Contepomi, Los Pumas por primera vez desde su ingreso al ex Tri Naciones, en 2012, lograron tres victorias: All Blacks (38-30) en Wellington a principios de agosto, Wallabies (67-27) en Ciudad de Santa Fe, hace dos semanas, y ahora Sudáfrica (29-28).
En 6ta. y última ronda, Sudáfrica enfrentará Argentina en el Mbombela Stadium de Nelspruit (12:00 hora argentina) y Nueva Zelanda a Australia en el Sky Stadium de Wellington (04:05 hora argentina) del sábado 28 de septiembre.
En la tabla de posiciones, Sudáfrica suma 19 puntos, por delante de Argentina con 14, Nueva Zelanda con 11 y Australia con 5 unidades.
La victoria sobre los Springboks elevará a Los Pumas a un nuevo ranking de 84,30 puntos el lunes. La clasificación mundial actualizada de los Springboks será de 91,77 puntos y significa que caen del primer lugar, con Irlanda ahora en el puesto más alto del mundo. Argentina supera Escocia para ser 6º del mundo.
El resultado de la victoria de Pumas sobre Springboks, fue el penal convertido por el apertura tucumano Tomás Albornoz a 12 minutos del pitazo final del árbitro inglés Christophe Ridley, debutante en el máximo torneo del hemisferio sur.
Fueron los únicos puntos de los Pumas en un segundo tiempo áspero y donde los suplentes supieron sacar a flote el desafío tras haber anotado cuatro tries en 20’ del primer tiempo. Y donde el cordobés Santiago Carreras disputó su 50º cap.
Los tries del wing tucumano Mateo Carreras, del flanker porteño Pablo Matera, del pilar derecho marplatense Joel Sclavi, y del apertura tucumano Tomás Albornoz, que sumó 1 Penal y 3 Conversiones, fueron determinantes.

Pero aturdidos por la presión, los Boks concedieron penales, para darle a los Pumas una posición por la banda derecha, con gran actuación del dúo cordobés formado por el full back Juan Cruz Mallía y el octavo Joaquín Oviedo.
Ahora los Pumas volarán a Sudáfrica y tendrán un último desafío en el estadio de Mbombela en Nelspruit, el próximo sábado (12.00 horas);
Allí Argentina tendrá las posibilidades de ganar su primer Rugby Championship, y para ello, necesitará de un punto bonus, y evitar que Sudáfrica tenga punto bonus defensivo.

The Pumas knew how to react and beat Springboks, two-time world champions, by 29-28 (26-22) in that theatre of dreams of Mother of Cities Stadium at Santiago del Estero City and aim to dispute title of 13th Rugby Championship on Saturday 28th at Nelspruit, South Africa (12:00 argentinian time).
The All Blacks completed the 5th and penultimate round, beating the Wallabies at the last breath by 31-28 at the Accor Stadium in Sydney.
Coached by Buenos Aires’s Felipe Contepomi, the Pumas for the first time since joining the former Tri Nations, in 2012, achieved three victories: All Blacks (38-30) in Wellington at the beginning of August, Wallabies (67-27) in Santa Fe City, two weeks ago, and now South Africa (29-28).
In the 6th and final round, South Africa will face Argentina at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit (12:00 Argentinian time) and New Zealand will face Australia at the Sky Stadium in Wellington (04:05 Argentiniantime) Saturday, September 28.
In the standings, South Africa has 19 points, ahead of Argentina with 14, New Zealand with 11 and Australia with 5 points.
The result of the Pumas' victory over Springboks was the penalty goal converted by Tucuman’s fly-half Tomás Albornoz 12 minutes from the final whistle of English referee Christophe Ridley, making his debut in the top tournament in the southern hemisphere.
These were the only points for Pumas in a rough second half where the substitutes knew how to get the challenge afloat after having scored four tries in 20' of the first half. And where the Cordoba’s Santiago Carreras played his 50th cap.
The tries of wing from Tucumán Mateo Carreras, flanker from Buenos Aires Pablo Matera, tight head prop from Mar del Plata Joel Sclavi, and fly half from Tucumán Tomás Albornoz, who added 1 Penalty goal and 3 Conversions, were decisive.
The Boks scored three tries in first half with full back Aphelele Fassi, centre Jesse Kriel and scrum half Cobus Reinach, plus 3 Penalties goals from fly half Handré Pollard (2), from substitute fly half Manie Libbok (1) and 2 Conversions from Pollard.
But stunned by the pressure, the Boks conceded penalties, to give the Pumas a position on the right wing, with a great performance from the Cordoba’s duo formed by full back Juan Cruz Mallía and number eight Joaquín Oviedo.
Now the Pumas will fly to South Africa and will have a final challenge at the Mbombela stadium in Nelspruit, next Saturday (12.00 argentinian time).
There Argentina will have the chance to win its first Rugby Championship, and to do so, it will need a bonus point, and prevent South Africa from having a defensive bonus point.
Difficult, but not impossible, for Pumas who started the 13th Rugby Championship with a victory against All Blacks at Sky Stadium in Wellington, capital of New Zealand, and thrashing the Wallabies at the Estadio de Colón, in Santa Fe.

be 91.77 points and means they fall from first place, with Ireland now ranked
highest in the world. Argentina overtakes Scotland to be 6th in the world.
The 6th and final round will be played next Saturday, September 28, with New Zealand-Australia at Sky Stadium in Wellington (04:05 Argentinian time), and South Africa-Argentina at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit (12:00 Argentinian time).
