Sudáfrica arrasó  Argentina por 48-7  (27-7)  y se proclamó campeón del 13º Rugby Championship 2024 .  Los campeones del mundo consolidaron su performance con destacadas  actuaciones  del full back Aphele  Fassi, del wing Cheslin Kolbe, del apertura Manie Libbok y del flanker Pieter-Steph du Toit.

Con dominio en el scrum, line  y juego de tres cuartos Sudáfrica en la 6ta. ronda y en la revancha ante Argentina, marcó 7 tries con full back Aphelele Fassi , flanker Pieter-Steph du Toit, wing Cheslin Kolbe, hooker Malcolm Marx y centro Jesse Kriel  contra el try del apertura tucumano Tomás Albornoz  convertido por el mismo.

Ante una Argentina aturdida y sumergida en la indisciplina con 1 tarjeta roja al flanker porteño Pablo Matera) y dos tarjetas amarillas (al wing tucumano Mateo Carreras y al full back cordobés Santiago Carreras), Sudáfrica tuvo contundencia los 80´  de juego por dinámica de todo el plantel entrenado por Rassie Erasmus.

Para el entrenadorporteño Felipe Contepomi, “Fueron muy superiores desde el minuto 1 hasta el minuto 80, duele perder siempre. Lo más difícil es la manera creo que no y en ningún momento fuimos el equipo que supimos ser. Habrá que seguir trabajando, evaluando, aprender. Ser duro con la autocrítica, ver que nos faltó,  duele perder”.

Los Springboks son campeones con cinco victorias en seis partidos tras derrotar a Australia y Nueva Zelanda dos veces y a Argentina una vez. Sudáfrica enfrentó en la final  a Argentina, sabiendo que con un punto bonus por perder aseguraba el título del 13º Rugby Championship.

Sudáfrica  obtuvo la victoria en su último partido del año como local y se convirtió en el primer equipo que no fuera Nueva Zelanda en ganar un torneo completo desde que Argentina entró a disputar el entonces Tri Nations,  en 2012.

Los Pumas no obstante disputar parte de la batalla con 13 contra 15 por tarjetas sancionadas por el árbitro neozelandés Ben O’ Keeffe, que dejaron a los Pumas jugando 13 contra 15, tuvieron figuras destacadas como el full back cordobés Juan Cruz Mallía (el mejor en todo el torneo) y el octavo cordobés Joaquín Oviedo.

En la tabla final Sudáfrica sumó 24 puntos, por delante de Nueva Zelanda con 16, Argentina con 14 y Australia con 5. En el ranking mundial Argentina mantuvo su 6º lugar conquistado hace una semana.

South Africa crushed Argentina 48-7 (27-7) and was proclaimed champion of the 13th Rugby Championship 2024 . The world champions consolidated their performance with outstanding performances by full back Aphele Fassi, wing Cheslin Kolbe, fly half Manie Libbok and flanker Pieter-Steph du Toit.

With dominance in the scrum, line and three-quarter game, South Africa in the 6th round and in the rematch against Argentina, scored 7 tries with full back Aphelele Fassi , flanker Pieter-Steph du Toit, wing Cheslin Kolbe, hooker Malcolm Marx and centre Jesse Kriel against the try of the Tucuman´s  fly half Tomás Albornoz converted by himself.

Against a stunned Argentina immersed in indiscipline with a red card to the flanker from Buenos Aires, Pablo Matera, and two yellow cards (to the winger from Tucumán, Mateo Carreras, and the full back from Córdoba, Santiago Carreras), South Africa was decisive throughout the 80 minutes of play thanks to the dynamics of the entire squad trained by Rassie Erasmus.

For Buenos Aires coach Felipe Contepomi, “They were far superior from the first minute to the 80th minute, it always hurts to lose. The hardest thing is the way I think we did it and at no point were we the team we knew how to be. We will have to keep working, evaluating, learning. Be tough with self-criticism, see what we lacked, it hurts to lose.”

The Springboks are champions with five wins in six games after defeating Australia and New Zealand twice and Argentina once. South Africa faced Argentina in the final, knowing that with a bonus point for losing they would secure the title of the 13th Rugby Championship.

South Africa won their last home game of the year and became the first team other than New Zealand to win a full tournament since Argentina entered the Tri Nations in 2012.

Despite playing part of the battle with 13 against 15 due to cards sanctioned by New Zealand referee Ben O' Keeffe, which left the Pumas playing 13 against 15, the Pumas had outstanding figures such as the full back from Cordoba Juan Cruz Mallía (the best in the entire tournament) and the eighth from Cordoba Joaquín Oviedo.

In the final table South Africa added 24 points, ahead of New Zealand with 16, Argentina with 14 and Australia with 5. In the world ranking Argentina maintained its 6th place achieved a week ago.

Avec une domination dans la mêlée, la ligne et le jeu de trois-quarts, l'Afrique du Sud au 6e tour et lors du match revanche contre l'Argentine, a marqué 7 essais avec l'arrière Aphelele Fassi, le flanker Pieter-Steph du Toit, l'ailier Cheslin Kolbe, le talonneur Malcolm Marx et le centre Jesse Kriel contre l'essai du demi d'ouverture de Tucuman Tomás Albornoz transformé par lui-même.

L'Afrique du Sud a remporté son dernier match à domicile de l'année et est devenue la première équipe, après la Nouvelle-Zélande, à remporter un tournoi complet depuis que l'Argentine a rejoint le Tri Nations en 2012.

Malgré une partie de la bataille à 13 contre 15 en raison de cartons sanctionnés par l'arbitre néo-zélandais Ben O' Keeffe, qui ont obligé les Pumas à jouer à 13 contre 15, les Pumas ont eu des figures remarquables comme l'arrière de Cordoba Juan Cruz Mallía (le meilleur de tout le tournoi) et le huitième de Cordoba Joaquín Oviedo.

Los Pumas van por la gloria, los Springboks por redimirse en final espectacular- Pumas go for glory, Springboks for redemption in spectacular final- Les Pumas en quête de gloire, les Springboks en quête de rédemption dans une finale spectaculaire

Springboks y Pumas se enfrentarán por la corona del 13º Rugby Championship el sábado a las 12:00,  hora argentina en el estadio Mbombela, en Mbombela City, donde un punto para los campeones del mundo les permitirá ganar el título ante Pumas que necesitan  vencer por más de 7 puntos y al menos 3  tries más,  para ganar  por primera vez el trofeo.

Los Springboks lideran  la tabla con 19 puntos por 14 de los aguerridos Pumas; mientras que los All Blacks cuentan con 11 y los Wallabies con 5 unidades,  y que se enfrentarán en el estadio Sky de Wellington completando la 6ta. ronda a partir de las 04:05 hora argentina.

El enfrentamiento se llevará a cabo en el límite del Parque Nacional Kruger, donde los antílopes temen a los grandes felinos. Y en el caso de los Pumas ante los Springboks, se espera ganar una batalla en el bosque, tras la victoria argentina de 29-28 en la Ciudad  de Santiago del Estero.

Cabe agregar que Mbombela, antes llamada Nelspruit, es la capital de la Provincia de Mpumalanga, y es la puerta de entrada al Parque Nacional Kruger, y otras reservas de vida de silvestre, como así también  es poseedora  de uno de los grandes jardines botánicos en Sudáfrica.

El entrenador Rassie Erasmus convocó  a varios titulares que han descansado para consolidar un equipo más experimentado,  necesitando  un punto o negarle a Argentina cinco puntos, para conquistar el Rugby Championship por primera vez desde 2019,  y conseguir su quinto título en total.

Erasmus eligió a Manie Libbok como apertura para empezar,  a pesar del penal  fallado frente a los postes en últimos minutos de la derrota de la semana pasada, y  reconoce en Libbok,  creatividad con pelota en la mano, y busca expandir su estilo en el resto del plantel.

En tal sentido Los Springboks proponen un esquema ofensivo alrededor de Manie Libbok,  comenzando con el medio scrum Jaden Hendrikse, y siguiendo con el wing estrella Cheslin Kolbe,  que lo ayudarán en el pateo a las alturas.

"Me siento cómodo pateando", resaltó Kolbe. "He estado trabajando en eso durante toda la temporada, y los pateadores y (el entrenador de ataque) Tony (Brown)  me han estado dando consejos. Los muchachos que jugaron la semana pasada me dieron consejos, así que sé en qué esperar´´.

"Hemos jugado en algunas finales, pero uno nunca puede contar con lo que sucedió en el pasado. Este va a ser un gran partido contra un equipo decidido como Los Pumas,  que son fenomenales, con varios jugadores con clase y  muchos de ellos vienen del rugby Seven´´, enfatizó el wing.

Argentina presenta  7  cambios y el flanker mendocino y subcapitán Juan Martín González, declaró: “Tuvimos un buen partido, pero queremos ser consistentes en nuestras actuaciones,  y por supuesto que queremos ganar todos los partidos, pero lo que buscamos es jugar un buen rugby´´.

´´A veces lo hacemos bien, otras no y si ganamos, ganamos, si perdemos, que así sea. Pero hemos estado entrenando muy bien. Estamos pensando solo en este momento,  y no en lo que pueda pasar después del partido con el Rugby Championship”, manifestó una de las estrellas del rugby argentino.

El segunda línea sudafricano Eben Etzebeth está listo para convertirse en el jugador de los Springboks con más partidos internacionales en la historia, al sumar su 128°  test internacional, lo que lo colocaría por encima del ex segunda línea  Victor Matfield, que encabeza  la lista.

Mientra tanto,  el entrenador porteño Felipe Contepomi, realizó  7 cambios radicales en el XV titular tras agotador partido en Argentina,  y el costo que el viaje de 12 horas ha tenido para con todo el equipo.

Hay una plataforma  tucumana en el lanzamiento ofensivo con el apertura Tomas Albornoz, y el medio scrum Gonzalo García que reemplaza al mendocino  Gonzalo Bertranou, quién se quedó afuera ya que va al banco el cordobés Lautaro Bazán Vélez.

En el centro del campo va el santafecino Santiago Chocobares como centro interior  y tiene como compañero al  porteño  Matías Moroni quién sustituye al también porteño Lucio Cinti como centro exterior.

En el fondo el  wing tucumano  Mateo Carreras formará en una línea de tres renovada que incluye a la ex estrella del seven el mendocino Rodrigo Isgró, con primera titularidad del año, y el cordobés Santiago Carreras cambia roles como full back con el también cordobés Juan Cruz Mallía.

El hooker porteño Julián Montoya será capitán por 39ª vez, por delante del ex apertura porteño  Hugo Porta, en el tercer lugar del elenco de capitanes de siempre en los Pumas. Montoya en primera línea formará con el pilar izquierdo tucumano Thomas Gallo y el marplatense Joel Sclavi como pilar derecho.

En segunda línea,  el santafecino Pedro Rubiolo y el porteño  Tomás Lavanini comienzan, y el cordobés Franco Molina va al banco. El  cordobés Joaquín Oviedo es el octavo, y como flankers van Juan Martín González como 6 y el porteño Santiago Grondona como 7, por el porteño Pablo Matera que va al banco.

Pumas go for glory, Springboks for redemption in spectacular final

Springboks and Pumas will face each other for the crown of the 13th Rugby Championship on Saturday at 12:00, Argentinian  time at Mbombela Stadium, in Mbombela City, where a point for the world champions will allow them to win title against Pumas who need to win by more than 7 points and at least 3 more tries, to win trophy for first time.

The Springboks lead standing with 19 points to 14 for the brave Pumas; while the All Blacks have 11 and the Wallabies with 5 points, and they will face each other at the Sky Stadium in Wellington completing the 6th. round from 04:05 Argentinian time.

The clash will take place on the edge of the Kruger National Park, where the antelopes fear the big cats. And in the case of the Pumas against the Springboks, a battle in the forest is expected to be won, after Argentina's 29-28 victory in the City of Santiago del Estero.

It should be added that Mbombela, formerly called Nelspruit, is the capital of Mpumalanga Province, and is the gateway to the Kruger National Park, and other wildlife reserves, as well as having one of the great botanical gardens in South Africa.

Coach Rassie Erasmus called up several starters who have been rested to consolidate a more experienced team, needing a point or denying Argentina five points, to win the Rugby Championship for the first time since 2019, and get their fifth title in total.

Erasmus chose Manie Libbok as a flyhalf to start, despite the missed penalty goal in front of the posts in the last minutes of last week's defeat, and recognizes in Libbok, creativity with ball in hand, and seeks to expand his style on the rest of the squad.

In this sense, the Springboks propose an offensive scheme around Manie Libbok, starting with scrum-half Jaden Hendrikse, and continuing with star wing Cheslin Kolbe, who will help him in kicking high.

"I feel comfortable kicking," said Kolbe. "I've been working on it all season, and the kickers and (attack coach) Tony (Brown) have been giving me advice. The boys who played last week gave me advice, so I know what to expect."

"We've played in some finals, but you can never count on what happened in the past. This is going to be a great match against a determined team like Los Pumas, who are phenomenal, with several classy players and many of them come from rugby Sevens," emphasized the wing.

Argentina has 7 changes and Mendoza´s  flanker and vice-captain Juan Martín González said: “We had a good match, but we want to be consistent in our performances, and of course we want to win all the matches, but what we are looking for is to play good rugby.”

“Sometimes we do well, sometimes we don’t and if we win, we win, if we lose, so be it. But we have been training very well. We are thinking only about this moment, and not about what might happen after the match with the Rugby Championship,” said one of the stars of Argentinian rugby.

South African second row Eben Etzebeth is ready to become the Springboks player with the most international caps in history, by adding his 128th international test, which would place him above former second row Victor Matfield, who heads the list.

Meanwhile, the Buenos Aires´s  coach Felipe Contepomi made 7 radical changes to the starting XV after the exhausting match in Argentina, and the cost that the 12-hour trip has had on the entire team.

There is a Tucuman´s  platform in the offensive launch with fly half  Tomas Albornoz, and scrum half Gonzalo García who replaces the Mendoza´s  Gonzalo Bertranou, who was left out since the Cordoba´s  Lautaro Bazán Vélez is going to the bench.

In the centre of the field is the Santa Fe´s  Santiago Chocobares as an inside centre and has as a partner the Buenos Aires´s  Matías Moroni who replaces the also Buenos Aires´s  Lucio Cinti as an outside centre.

In the back, the Tucuman´s  wing Mateo Carreras will form a renewed line of three that includes the former sevens star the Mendoza´s Rodrigo Isgró, with his first start of the year, and the Cordoba´s  Santiago Carreras changes roles as full back with the also Cordoba´s  Juan Cruz Mallía.

The hooker from Buenos Aires, Julián Montoya, will be captain for the 39th time, ahead of the former Buenos Aires´s  flyhalf, Hugo Porta, in third place in the list of captains of all time at the Pumas. Montoya will form the front row with the loose head prop from Tucumán, Thomas Gallo, and Mar del Plata´s  Joel Sclavi, as tight head prop.

In the second row, the Santa Fe´s Pedro Rubiolo, and Buenos Aires´s Tomás Lavanini, will start, and Córdoba´s Franco Molina, will be on the bench. Córdoba´s Joaquín Oviedo, will be number eight, and as flankers, Juan Martín González will be 6 and Buenos Aires´s Santiago Grondona, will be 7, for Buenos Aires´s  Pablo Matera to the bench.

Les Pumas en quête de gloire, les Springboks en quête de rédemption dans une finale spectaculaire

Les Springboks et les Pumas s'affronteront pour la couronne du 13e Rugby Championship samedi à 12h00, heure argentine, au stade Mbombela, à Ville de Mbombela, où un point pour les champions du monde leur permettra de remporter le titre face aux Pumas qui doivent gagner par plus de 7 points et au moins 3 essais de plus, pour remporter le trophée pour la première fois.

Les Springboks mènent au classement avec 19 points contre 14 pour les courageux Pumas; tandis que les All Blacks en ont 11 et les Wallabies 5 points, et ils s'affronteront au Stade Sky de Wellington pour terminer la 6e journée à partir de 04h05, heure argentine.

L'affrontement aura lieu aux abords du parc national Kruger, où les antilopes craignent les grands félins. Et dans le cas des Pumas contre les Springboks, une bataille en forêt devrait être gagnée, après la victoire 29-28 de l'Argentine à la Ville de  Santiago del Estero.

Il faut ajouter que Mbombela, anciennement appelée Nelspruit, est la capitale de la province de Mpumalanga, et est la porte d'entrée du parc national Kruger, et d'autres réserves fauniques, en plus d'avoir l'un des grands jardins botaniques d'Afrique du Sud.

L'entraîneur Rassie Erasmus a convoqué plusieurs titulaires qui ont été mis au repos pour consolider une équipe plus expérimentée, ayant besoin d'un point ou refusant à l'Argentine cinq points, pour remporter le Rugby Championship pour la première fois depuis 2019, et obtenir son cinquième titre au total.

Erasmus a choisi Manie Libbok comme demi d'ouverture pour commencer, malgré le coupe de pénalité manqué devant les poteaux dans les dernières minutes de la défaite de la semaine dernière, et reconnaît en Libbok, la créativité avec le ballon en main, et cherche à étendre son style sur le reste de l'équipe.

En ce sens, les Springboks proposent un schéma offensif autour de Manie Libbok, en commençant par le demi de mêlée Jaden Hendrikse, et en continuant avec l'ailier vedette Cheslin Kolbe, qui l'aidera à tirer haut.

"Je me sens à l'aise pour tirer", a déclaré Kolbe. "J'ai travaillé là-dessus toute la saison, et les botteurs et (l'entraîneur d'attaque) Tony (Brown) m'ont donné des conseils. Les garçons qui ont joué la semaine dernière m'ont donné des conseils, donc je sais à quoi m'attendre."

"Nous avons joué quelques finales, mais on ne peut jamais compter sur ce qui s'est passé dans le passé. Ce sera un grand match contre une équipe déterminée comme Los Pumas, qui sont phénoménales, avec plusieurs joueurs de classe et beaucoup d'entre eux viennent du rugby à VII", a souligné l'ailier.

 

L'Argentine a effectué 7 changements et le flanker et vice-capitaine de Mendoza, Juan Martín González, a déclaré : « Nous avons fait un bon match, mais nous voulons être constants dans nos performances, et bien sûr nous voulons gagner tous les matchs, mais ce que nous cherchons, c'est jouer un bon rugby».

« Parfois, nous réussissons, parfois non, et si nous gagnons, nous gagnons, si nous perdons, tant pis. Mais nous nous sommes très bien entraînés. Nous pensons seulement à ce moment, et pas à ce qui pourrait arriver après le match avec le Rugby Championship », a déclaré l'une des stars du rugby argentin.

Le deuxième ligne sud-africain Eben Etzebeth est prêt à devenir le joueur des Springboks avec le plus de sélections internationales de l'histoire, en ajoutant son 128e test international, ce qui le placerait devant l'ancien deuxième ligne Victor Matfield, qui est en tête de liste.

Pendant ce temps, l'entraîneur de Buenos Aires Felipe Contepomi a effectué 7 changements radicaux dans le XV de départ après le match épuisant en l´Argentine et le coût que le voyage de 12 heures a eu sur toute l'équipe.

Il ya une plateforme offensive de Tucumán avec le demi d'ouverture Tomas Albornoz et le demi de mêlée Gonzalo García qui remplace Gonzalo Bertranou de Mendoza, laissé,  puisque Lautaro Bazán Vélez de Cordoba va sur le banc.

Au centre du terrain se trouve Santiago Chocobares de Santa Fe comme centre intérieur et a comme partenaire Matías Moroni de Buenos Aires qui remplace également Lucio Cinti de Buenos Aires comme centre extérieur.

Derrière, l'ailier de Tucumán Mateo Carreras formera une nouvelle ligne de trois joueurs qui comprendra l'ancien joueur vedette du Sevens Rodrigo Isgró de Mendoza, qui sera titulaire pour la première fois de l'année, et Santiago Carreras de Cordoba qui échangera les rôles au poste d´arrière avec Juan Cruz Mallía de Cordoba.

Le talonneur de Buenos Aires Julián Montoya sera capitaine pour la 39e fois, devant l'ancien demi d'ouverture de Buenos Aires Hugo Porta, troisième dans la liste des capitaines de tous les temps chez les Pumas. Montoya formera la première ligne avec le pilier gauche de Tucumán Thomas Gallo et Joel Sclavi de Mar del Plata, comme pilier droit.

En deuxième ligne, Pedro Rubiolo de Santa Fe et Tomás Lavanini de Buenos Aires débuteront, et Franco Molina de Córdoba sera sur le banc. Joaquín Oviedo de Cordoba  sera le numéro huit, et comme flanqueurs Juan Martín González aura le 6 et Santiago Grondona de Buenos Aires le 7, pour Pablo Matera de Buenos Aires sur le banc.
