Con miras a la temporada 2024 de los Pumas, fueron convocados seis Dogos cordobeses: el segunda línea Matías Alemanno, el apertura Santiago Carreras, el medio scrum Lautaro Bazán Vélez, el flanker Joaquín Oviedo, el pilar Eduardo Bello, el segunda línea Franco Molina y el full back/wing Mateo Soler Filloy.
A la convocatoria falta el octavo Dogo y Puma, el full back/wing Juan Cruz Mallía, que está disputando las instancias finales del Top 14 francés, con el Stade Toulousain, que enfrentará semifinales contra La Rochelle, y el ganador de ése desafío se medirá con el ganador de Stade Francais vs Bordeaux-Begles.
A poco más de dos semanas (17 días), se producirá el debut de Argentina en la escena internacional 2024, enfrentando a Francia en el primer test match de la Ventana del invierno, en el estadio Malvinas Argentinas de la Ciudad de Mendoza, en sábado 6 de julio a las 16:00 hrs.
Para proseguir con el segundo test-match contra Francia en el estadio del Club Vélez Sársfield en Ciudad de Buenos Aires el sábado 13 de julio a las 16:00 hrs, completando el tercer encuentro de la Ventana, con el test-match frente a Uruguay en el Campus de Maldonado, en sábado 20 de julio a las 16:00 hrs.
Los Pumas reaparecen después de haber disputado el 10º Mundial en Francia 2023, donde se ubicaron en el cuarto lugar. Para éste comienzo oficial de la temporada, el entrenador porteño Felipe Contepomi, convocó un plantel de 34 jugadores que tendrán concentración en Mendoza a finales de junio.
Sobre la convocatoria
para la ventana de julio, Felipe Contepomi comentó: “Este año es el punto de partida de un nuevo
ciclo mundialista que tiene como principal objetivo la Copa del Mundo Australia
2027. Tenemos un gran desafío por delante con partidos que asumimos con entusiasmo, responsabilidad y compromiso.
Nuestro foco está puesto en el corto, mediano y largo plazo, y es por eso que buscaremos armar un plantel que responda a cada una de las instancias. Para esta Ventana Internacional conformamos una lista de 34 jugadores, que incluye la participación de dos jóvenes que se suman en carácter de desarrollo.
Es muy importante darle rodaje a jóvenes talentos para que se entrenen con el plantel . Otro aspecto clave que haremos mucho hincapié, es en recuperación de los jugadores, y es por eso que varios tendrán descanso y serán parte para los demás compromisos del año (Rugby Championship y Ventana de Noviembre)”.
Hay cuatro convocados sin caps: Franco Molina y Mateo Soler Filloy, Campeones de América con los Dogos XV, en Súper Rugby Américas, siendo Molina ya convocado al camp de Londres en marzo pasado y Francisco Coria Marchetti, de Brive y Bautista Pedemonte, de Vannes, del ascenso del rugby francés.
A ellos se integran jugadores en desarrollo: Bautista Bernasconi, del Benetton Treviso (Italia); y Joaquín Moro, de los Pampas, de Buenos Aires, subcampeones del Súper Rugby Américas 2024.
