Dogos XV deben remontar la pendiente, en final ante Pampas- Dogos XV must overcome the slope, in the final against Pampas

Tras superar al último aliento y en tiempo suplementario a Yacaré XV por 17-14 (7-6),  en semifinal  del 2º Super Rugby Americas,  disputada en Tala Rugby Club, de Villa Warcalde, Ciudad de Córdoba, Dogos XV deben remontar la pendiente el sábado (16:30) en final ante Pampas en Atlético San Isidro, conurbano bonaerense.

Mientras los Pampas porteños dieron cuenta de los charrúas del Peñarol Rugby por 50-27 en el Atlético San Isidro en el norte del conurbano bonaerense, en la otra semifinal, los Dogos XV debieron remar la corriente, ante los guaraníes de Yacaré XV, en un intercambio ininterrumpido de infracciones que quitaron ritmo.

Abrumados, los Dogos XV con la presión encima de los Yacaré XV hasta más allá de lo lícito, apostaron a su arma mejor y que es su plataforma de relanzamiento: el scrum,  a partir de primera línea brillante con el villamariense Boris Wenger, el mendocino Tomás Bartoloni y el cordobés capitalino Octavio Filippa.

Y con ese pack, apuntalado por los gigantes Franco Molina, Lautaro Simes Bulgarelli y Efraín Elías, surgió el juego desplegado para Agustín Moyano y el combate de los tres cuartos con Faustino Sánchez Valarolo, Felipe Mallía y Mateo Soler Filloy, frente al batallón guaraní encabezado por el porteño Joaquín Lamas.

Destacaron individualidades,  y no juego colectivo, con el centro salteño Leonardo Gea Salim, marcó el segundo try (70´)   y apertura mendocino Julián Hernández, que anotó su  try a los 24´, sumando conversiones en ambos ensayos, y el penal determinante del apertura rosarino Juan Pablo Baronio en tiempo suplementario (87´).

Pero ese 17-14  se pudo marcar en el tiempo reglamentario, si el apertura Julián Hernández en vez de patear un penal factible a los postes, apuntó al line para un maul que no prosperó ya que la pelota recuperada por Yacaré XV, sirvió para contraataque en otro desafío del repliegue defensivo de la franquicia cordobesa.

Yacaré XV sometió a los Dogos XV a un choque demoledor,  y que le provocó infracciones transformadas en penales a los 34´,  37´ , y 55´ por el apertura porteño Joaquín Lamas.  Siendo el sello el try del hooker Axel Zapata que abría más la incertidumbre,  a los 50´ de juego, pero que no fue convertido por Lamas.

Ahora viene una pausa de reflexión y resiliencia,  para los Dogos XV que deben velar las armas, para enfrentar su segunda final consecutiva, como la del año pasado en el feudo charrúa del Peñarol Rugby, y que ahora se convierte en el ámbito porteño, donde acechan los Pampas, que golearon a Peñarol por 50-27.

Menudo  galimatías para los Dogos XV entrenados por el porteño Nicolás Galatro, el riocuartense Diego Ghiglione y los cordobeses capitalinos Galo Álvarez Quiñones y Stéfano Ambrosio,  frente a las huestes de los Pampas entrenados por el santiagueño Juan Manuel Leguizamón, el rosarino Nicolás Vergallo y el porteño Rodrigo Martínez.

Dogos XV must overcome the slope, in the final against Pampas

After beating Yacaré XV 17-14 (7-6) in extra time in the semi-final of the 2nd Super Rugby Americas, played at Tala Rugby Club, in Villa Warcalde, City of Cordoba, Dogos XV must climb the slope on Saturday (16:30) in the final against Pampas in Atlético San Isidro, Buenos Aires suburbs.

While the Pampas of Buenos Aires defeated the Charrúas Stadium of Peñarol Rugby by 50-27 at the Atlético San Isidro in the north of the Buenos Aires suburbs, in the other semifinal, the Dogos XV had to overcome the current, against the Guaraníes of Yacaré XV uninterrupted exchange of infractions that took away the rhythm.

Overwhelmed, the Dogos XV with the pressure on the Yacaré XV beyond what is licit, bet on their best weapon and that is their relaunch platform: the scrum, starting from the brilliant front row  with Boris Wenger from Villa Maria, Tomás Bartoloni from Mendoza and Octavio Filippa from Córdoba City.

And with that forward pack, supported by the giants Franco Molina, Lautaro Simes Bulgarelli and Efraín Elías, the game emerged for Agustín Moyano and the backline combat with Faustino Sánchez Valarolo, Felipe Mallía and Mateo Soler Filloy, against the Guaraní battalion led by the Buenos Aires's fly half  Joaquín Lamas.

Individualities, and not collective play, stood out, with Salta's centre Leonardo Gea Salim, scoring the second try (70') and Mendoza's  fly-half Julián Hernández, who scored his try at 24', adding conversions in both tries, and the decisive penalty goal of the Rosario's fly half Juan Baronio in extra time (87').

But that 17-14 could have been scored in regulation time, if the fly half Julián Hernández, instead of kicking a feasible penalty goal to the posts, aimed at the line for a maul that did not prosper since the ball recovered by Yacaré XV served as a counterattack in another challenge of the defensive withdrawal of the Córdoba's  franchise.

Yacaré XV subjected the Dogos XV to a devastating clash, and that caused infractions transformed into penalties goals at 34', 37', and 55' by the Buenos Aires´s  fly-half Joaquín Lamas.  The seal was the try of hooker Axel Zapata that opened more uncertainty, at 50 ́ of play, but that was not converted by Lamas.

Now comes a pause of reflection and resilience, for the Dogos XV who must watch their weapons, to face their second consecutive final, like last year's in the Uruguayan fiefdom of Peñarol Rugby, and which now becomes Buenos Aires area, suburb,  where the Pampas, who thrashed Peñarol by 50-27, lurk.
