Mañana sábado en el estadio 23 de Agosto en la ciudad de San Salvador Jujuy, capital de la Provincia del norte de Argentina, Los Pumas comenzarán la era del australiano Michael Cheika como entrenador y en un primer test-match donde el pronóstico es de una estrecha victoria argentina sobre los ‘’Highlanders’’.
Por primera vez en tres años, ya que el último test-match se disputó el 10 de agosto de 2019, cuando Los Pumas cayeron ante los Springboks por 46-13 en el estadio Padre Martearena en la Ciudad de Salta, capital de la Provincia del norte de Argentina y también fronteriza, como Jujuy, con Bolivia.
Ahora cambia la etapa que tuvo como entrenador al
porteño Mario Ledesma, en trayectoria traumática y que tuvo como epicentro a
Australia, en pleno primer tramo de la pandemia Covid-19, y según el ranking
mundial, Escocia está 7º con 81.80 pts y Argentina 8º con 80.58.
Los Pumas, sufrieron en su despedida europea de 2021, categórica ante Irlanda por 53-7, en el mítico Lansdowne Road de Dublin, donde concluyó la etapa del porteño Mario Ledesma, tras tumultuosos episodios con el flanker porteño Pablo Matera, como protagonista.

El flanker porteño Pablo Matera recibió tarjeta amarilla (6 tarjetas) y
el segunda línea porteño Tomás Lavanini (8 tarjetas) fue expulsado por golpe
peligroso a un rival.
Escocia viene de ganar a Argentina, las últimas cinco confrontaciones a partir de 2014, con el 21-19 en el estadio Mario Alberto Kempes de Córdoba capital. Hoy la selección del Cardo entrenada por Gregor Townsend, debutó el sábado pasado en gira sudamericana ganando a los Cóndores por 45-5 en Santiago de Chile.
Scrum y defensa son variantes del juego en que el australiano Michael Cheika, con la asistencia del rosarino Andrés Bordoy y el neozelandés David Kidwell, que proviene del rugby league, tendrán que poner atención y donde destaca toda la experiencia y disciplina del segunda línea cordobés Matías Alemanno (73 caps) .
