Los Pumas cayeron ante los Springboks  bicampeones mundiales, por 67-30 (25-23) en el Kings Park de Durban,  en 5ta. y penúltima ronda del 14º Rugby Championship, donde son líderes con punto bonus.

A falta de una ronda, Sudáfrica lidera la tabla con 15 puntos, seguida de Nueva Zelanda (14), Australia (11) y Argentina (9), que recibirá a los Springboks en la catedral de Twickenham el próximo sábado.

Completaron la penúltima fecha del máximo torneo del hemisferio austral, los All Blacks que superaron a los Wallabies 33-24 en invicto Eden Park de Auckland, y revancha el sábado en Wellington Regional Stadium.

En ranking mundial Los Pumas (84.40) aumentaron ligeramente su ventaja desde el 6º lugar sobre los Wallabies 7º, después de que el equipo de Joe Schmidt cayera 33-24 ante los All Blacks en emocionante test.

Los Wallabies (83.85) perdieron 0,18 puntos como resultado de la derrota, y  Nueva Zelanda(89.10)  aumentó calificación en la misma cantidad para acercarse ligeramente a Irlanda (89.83), en 2º lugar.

En Durban hubo goleada de los Springboks con 9 tries a los Pumas, con gran protagonismo del apertura Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, que anotó 37 puntos: 3 ensayos, 2 penales y 8 conversiones.

Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu con triplete de tries, superó el récord de Percy Montgomery leyenda de los Springboks, de más puntos en un solo Test match.

Junto a galopadas del apertura goleador, marcaron el hooker Malcolm Marx, el wing Cheslin Kolbe, el medio scrum Morné van den Berg, el octavo Pieter-Steph du Toit (2) y el apertura suplente Manie Libbok.

Los Pumas demostraron tenacidad, perdiendo al descanso por 25-23 con tries del centro Santiago Chocobares, del back suplente Tomás Albornoz, de un try penal y puntería del apertura Santiago Carreras.

"Había mucha energía, estoy muy contento ya que solo queríamos jugar un buen rugby, y trasladar al partido el trabajo que hemos hecho en los entrenamientos’’, manifestó apertura Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu.

Con ésta goleada Sudáfrica ya está en la primera posición para retener su título, pero su capitán Siya Kolisi advirtió que enfrentarán un último obstáculo ‘’muy duro’’ en Twickenham el próximo sábado.

"Esperábamos un comienzo difícil, sabiendo que los Pumas iban a aprovechar sus oportunidades en el primer tiempo, y tras el descanso eliminamos errores estúpidos y los penales’’, sentenció Siya Kolisi.

Para resaltar: ‘’Estábamos cometiendo muchos errores y buscamos la mayor serenidad posible. La semana que viene daremos lo mejor de nosotros para ganar,  ya que el trabajo no ha terminado’’.

Los Pumas consiguieron uno de los tries más extraños en la historia del rugby internacional, en un primer tiempo donde dominaron y solo la brillantez de Feinberg-Mngomezulu mantuvo a raya a los Boks.

El wing de los Springboks, Cheslin Kolbe, pateó el balón en su propio ingol con naturalidad, hacia el apertura Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, quien iba a reanudar la acción.

Pero el centro rufinense Santiago Chocobares recogió el balón y apoyó el try convalidado por el árbitro australiano Angus Gardner, tras maniobra de Kolbe que dejó el balón vivo para el try.

Tras la pausa se produjo una contundente reacción de los Boks con excelente manejo del balón, pases aéreos precisos y un estilo de juego arriesgado que aumentó la ventaja en el marcador para totalizar 9 tries.

“Por algo son los campeones del mundo, tienen equipo muy bueno, y  vamos a revisar duro. Indudablemente es parte del deporte y tenemos que mejorar ”, resaltó el entrenador porteño Felipe Contepomi.

“Uno quiere medirse contra estos equipos, pero después hay que estar a la altura”, sentenció Felipe Contepomi.

El hooker porteño Julián Montoya,  capitán de los Pumas, expresó: "No estuvimos a la altura, estoy muy decepcionado;  Sudáfrica que es el mejor equipo del mundo, capitalizó cada error que cometimos’’.

‘’No pudimos soportar la presión de Sudáfrica, por lo que fue un día difícil, donde necesitábamos reagruparnos y mantenernos unidos", enfatizó Montoya, tras disputar su 51º cap como capitán.

El medio scrum tucumano Gonzalo García tuvo lesión en cabeza y  cuello al caerle encima el segunda línea porteño Guido Petti Pagadizábal;  y el back suplente tucumano Tomás Albornoz tuvo lesión muscular.

Por lo que ambos son baja y son convocados para el sábado en Twickenham, el mendocino Gonzalo Bertranou, el santiagueño Nicolás Roger, el porteño Gerónimo Prisciantelli y el cordobés Agustín Moyano.

Ahora, los Pumas del full back cordobés Juan Cruz Mallía, en 6º lugar del ranking mundial, buscarán remontar el próximo fin de semana, para mantener a raya a los Wallabies  en el 7º escalón.

Los Pumas aumentaron levemente ventaja sobre los Wallabies entrenados por el neozelandés Joe Schmidt, tras la derrota de 33-24 ante All Blacks de Scott Robertson.

The Pumas fell to the two-time world champion Springboks, 67-30 (25-23) at Kings Park in Durban, in the fifth and penultimate round of the 14 Rugby Championship, where they lead with a bonus point.

With one round remaining, South Africa leads the table with 15 points, followed by New Zealand (14), Australia (11), and Argentina (9), who will host the Springboks at Twickenham Cathedral next Saturday.

The All Blacks completed the penultimate round of southern hemisphere's top tournament, defeating  Wallabies 33-24 at Auckland's undefeated Eden Park, and their rematch will be on Saturday at Wellington Regional Stadium.

In the world rankings, Los Pumas (84.40) slightly increased their lead from 6th place over the Wallabies (7th) after Joe Schmidt's team fell 33-24 to the All Blacks in a thrilling Test.

The Wallabies (83.85) lost 0.18 points as a result of the defeat, and New Zealand (89.10) increased their rating by the same amount to move slightly closer to Ireland (89.83) in 2nd place.

In Durban, the Springboks thrashed the Pumas with 9 tries, with fly-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu playing a key role, scoring 37 points: 3 tries, 2 penalties goals, and 8 conversions.

Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu's hat trick surpassed Springbok legend Percy Montgomery's record for most points in a single Test match.

Along with gallops from top-scoring fly-half, hooker Malcolm Marx, winger Cheslin Kolbe, scrum-half Morné van den Berg, number eight Pieter-Steph du Toit (2), and substitute fly-half Manie Libbok scored.

The Pumas demonstrated tenacity, losing 25-23 at halftime thanks tries the centre Santiago Chocobares, substitute back Tomás Albornoz, a penalty try, and precision from fly-half Santiago Carreras.

"There was a lot of energy, I'm very happy because we just wanted to play good rugby and carry over the work we've done in training into the match," said fly-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu.

With this win, South Africa is now in first place to retain its title, but captain Siya Kolisi warned they face a "very tough" final hurdle at Twickenham next Saturday.

"We expected a difficult start, knowing the Pumas would take advantage of their opportunities in the first half, and after the break we eliminated stupid mistakes and penalties," concluded Siya Kolisi.

He emphasized: "We were making a lot of errors and we looked for the greatest possible composure. Next week we'll give our all to win, as the work isn't done."

The Pumas scored one of the strangest tries in the history of international rugby, in a first half where they dominated, and only the brilliance of Feinberg-Mngomezulu kept the Boks at bay.

Springbok winger Cheslin Kolbe effortlessly kicked the ball into his own goal, towards fly-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who was about to restart the match.

But Rufino’s  centre Santiago Chocobares collected the ball and scored the try, which was recognized by Australian referee Angus Gardner, after Kolbe's maneuver left the ball open for a try.

After the break, the Boks responded forcefully with excellent ball handling, precise aerial passes, and a risky style of play that increased their lead to nine tries.

“They're world champions for a reason. They have a very good team, and we're going to test hard. It's undoubtedly part of the sport, and we have to improve”, emphasized Buenos Aires’s coach Felipe Contepomi.

“You want to compete against these teams, but afterward, you have to be up to the task,” Felipe Contepomi concluded.

Buenos Aires’s hooker Julián Montoya, captain of the Pumas, expressed: “We weren't up to scratch, I'm very disappointed. South Africa, which is the best team in the world, capitalized on every mistake we made”.

“We couldn't withstand South Africa's pressure, so it was a difficult day, and we needed to regroup and stay together,” Montoya emphasized after playing his 51st cap as captain.

Tucumán scrum-half Gonzalo García suffered a head and neck injury when he was hit by Buenos Aires second-row Guido Petti Pagadizábal; and Tucumán reserve back Tomás Albornoz suffered a muscle injury.

Therefore, both are out and are called up  Saturday's match at Twickenham: Mendoza's Gonzalo Bertranou, Santiago del Estero's Nicolás Roger, Buenos Aires's Gerónimo Prisciantelli, and Córdoba's Agustín Moyano.

Now, the Pumas, led by Córdoba's full back Juan Cruz Mallía, ranked 6th in the world, will look to make a comeback next weekend to keep the Wallabies at bay in 7th place.

« Nous nous attendions à un début difficile, sachant que les Pumas profiteraient de leurs occasions en première mi-temps, et après la pause, nous avons éliminé les erreurs stupides et les pénalités », a conclu Siya Kolisi.

Il a souligné : « Nous commettions beaucoup d'erreurs et nous avons cherché le plus grand calme possible. La semaine prochaine, nous donnerons tout pour gagner, car le travail n'est pas terminé. »

Les Pumas ont inscrit l'un des essais les plus étranges de l'histoire du rugby international, lors d'une première mi-temps dominée, et seule la brillante performance de Feinberg-Mngomezulu a tenu les Boks à distance.

L'ailier des Springboks, Cheslin Kolbe, a envoyé le ballon sans effort dans son propre but, vers le demi d'ouverture Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, qui s'apprêtait à relancer le match.

Mais le centre de Rufino, Santiago Chocobares, a récupéré le ballon et a marqué l'essai, validé par l'arbitre australien Angus Gardner, après que la manœuvre de Kolbe ait laissé le ballon libre.

Après la pause, les Boks ont réagi avec force grâce à une excellente maîtrise du ballon, des passes aériennes précises et un jeu risqué qui a porté leur avance à neuf essais.

«Ils sont champions du monde pour une raison. Ils ont une très bonne équipe, et nous allons nous donner à fond, et nous devons progresser», a souligné l'entraîneur de Buenos Aires, Felipe Contepomi.

«On veut rivaliser avec ces équipes, mais après, il faut être à la hauteur», a conclu Felipe Contepomi.

Le talonneur de Buenos Aires, Julián Montoya, capitaine des Pumas, a déclaré: «Nous n'avons pas été à la hauteur, je suis très déçu. L'Afrique du Sud, qui est la meilleure équipe du monde, a su capitaliser sur chacune de nos erreurs.»

«Nous n'avons pas résisté à la pression sud-africaine, c'était donc une journée difficile, et nous devions nous ressaisir et rester soudés», a souligné Montoya après avoir disputé sa 51e sélection en tant que capitaine.

Le demi de mêlée de Tucumán, Gonzalo García, a été blessé à la tête et au cou après avoir été heurté par le deuxième ligne de Buenos Aires, Guido Petti Pagadizábal. Le remplaçant ouvreur de Tucumán, Tomás Albornoz, a quant à lui été blessé musculairement.

Par conséquent, tous deux sont forfaits et sont convoqués pour le match de samedi à Twickenham: Gonzalo Bertranou (Mendoza), Nicolás Roger (Santiago del Estero), Gerónimo Prisciantelli (Buenos Aires) et Agustín Moyano (Córdoba).
