Los Pumas en su revancha contra los All Blacks buscan redimirse en 2da. ronda del 14º Rugby Championship 2025, que se disputará en el estadio del Club Vélez Sársfield en Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires.

Para el entrenador porteño Felipe Contepomi lo que cuenta es reforzar ata  que en los tres cuartos y potenciar defensa en el pack, que necesita de más dinámica en la cobertura para frenar embestida kiwi.

Solamente hay dos cambios, con el flanker mendocino Juan Martín González en el arranque desde la base, y con el regreso del wing tucumano Mateo Carreras en lugar del wing y tryman mendocino Rodrigo Isgró.

Si bien en el centro de cancha hace falta modificación en zona caliente de mucho tráfico neozelandés, que provocó penetraciones con velocidad y destreza, en momentos culminantes de la alta intensidad.

Si bien el pack cobra vigor con Juan Martín González ayudando la conducción del octavo cordobés Joaquín Emanuel Oviedo, la primera línea necesita refuerzo tras ser desbordada en la dinámica de los scrums.

Pero lo que cuenta antes que nada es la disciplina que ayude al despliegue del juego desplegado que intenta el medio scrum tucumano Gonzalo García, para lanzar al apertura tucumano Tomás Albornoz.

Para revertir derrota encajada ante la multitud de 60.000 espectadores en el Mario Alberto Kempes, en Ciudad de Córdoba, hace falta de concentración,  destreza y mantener alta intensidad los 80’.

En el fondo, el full back cordobés Juan Cruz Mallía, debe contar con cobertura bien despierta, en los porteños Bautista Delguy y Lucio Cinti, el rufinense  Santiago Chocobares y el tucumano Mateo Carreras.

Los suplentes deben contar con muchos reflejos: el entrerriano Marcos Kremer, bonaerenses Guido Petti Pagadizábal, Ignacio Ruiz, Nahuel Tetáz Chaparro, Joel Sclavi, Simón Benítez Cruz, y Justo Picardo,  y el cordobés Santiago Carreras.

En los All Blacks el entrenador neozelandés Scott Robertson convocó al octavo novato Simon Parker, quien debutará, y el flanker Wallace Sititi, debe comenzar como suplente,  tras sufrir otra lesión.

A los 22 años Sititi fue gran protagonista en 2024, pero ha tenido problemas con lesiones en 2025 y se perdió con los Chiefs, los primeros meses del Super Rugby Pacific.

Y ahora  el tercera línea está en forma y ha regresado dentro del plantel de 23 jugadores, donde el flanker Ardie Savea regresa como siete, con Parker en la base  por el lado abierto, y Tupou Vaa'i sigue por el ciego.

El resto de los All Blacks se mantiene sin cambios: Fabian Holland y el capitán Scott Barrett continúan en la segunda línea, con Fletcher Newell, Ethan de Groot y Codie Taylor (en su 100º cap) en la primera línea.

Para Scott Robertson: ‘’Codie es un gran All Black, Aporta mucha energía a nuestro grupo y es importante que tengamos una actuación que lo enorgullezca a él, en su cap  Nº 100".

“Su comportamiento y ejemplo que da, son testimonio de su persona y ésta semana se presentará como lo ha hecho en los últimos 99 tests’’, reconoció Robertson.

“Asimismo, es un día especial para Simon (Parker)  y su familia, ya que se ganó su selección gracias a su rendimiento y consistencia. Es un hombre corpulento y su físico está listo para causar un gran impacto”, dijo.

Detrás del scrum, los All Blacks mantienen misma línea defensiva a pesar de sus problemas en ataque ante los Pumas en Ciudad de Córdoba; y siguen Billy Proctor como centro y Rieko Ioane como wing.

El centro Billy Proctor vuelve a formar con Jordie Barrett, mientras que el wing Rieko Ioane se integrará en el fondo de un trío defensivo con el full back  Will Jordan y el wing tryman Sevu Reece.

Los medios demostraron efectividad en el estadio Kempes y también mantendrán la conducción con el apertura Beauden Barrett y el medio scrum Cortez Ratima, que son claves en el juego desplegado.

Al banco van Sititi y Tamaiti Williams, también lesionado, a quienes se unen Samisoni Taukei'aho, Pasilio Tosi y Josh Lord como delanteros de cobertura en unos All Blacks que siguen un 6-2.

Pumas seek redemption in rematch against All Blacks

The Pumas, in their rematch against All Blacks, are looking to redeem themselves in Round 2 of 14th Rugby Championship 2025, which will be played at Club Vélez Sársfield stadium in Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

For Buenos Aires’s coach Felipe Contepomi, the key is strengthening the attack in the backline and strengthening the defense in the pack, which needs more dynamic coverage to stop the Kiwi onslaught.

There are only two changes: Mendoza’s flanker Juan Martín González starting from the base, and return of Tucumán’s  winger Mateo Carreras in place of Mendoza’s  winger and tryman Rodrigo Isgró.

However, in the centre of the pitch, changes are needed in the hot zone, which is heavily trafficked by the New Zealanders, which led to speedy and skillful penetrations at crucial moments of high intensity.

For the All Blacks, New Zealand coach Scott Robertson has called up rookie number eight Simon Parker, who will make his debut, and flanker Wallace Sititi is expected to start as a substitute after suffering another injury.

At 22, Sititi was a key player in 2024, but struggled with injuries in 2025 and missed the Chiefs' first few months of Super Rugby Pacific.

And now the back-row is fit and has returned to the 23-man squad, where flanker Ardie Savea returns at number seven, with Parker at base on the openside, and Tupou Vaa'i at the blindside.

The rest of the All Blacks remain unchanged: Fabian Holland and captain Scott Barrett continue in the second row, with Fletcher Newell, Ethan de Groot, and Codie Taylor (in his 100th cap) in the front row.

For Scott Robertson: "Codie is a great All Black. He brings a lot of energy to our group, and it's important that we put in a performance that makes him proud, in his 100th cap."

"His behavior and example are a testament to his character, and this week he will perform as he has in the last 99 Tests," Robertson acknowledged.

"It's also a special day for Simon (Parker) and his family, as he earned his selection thanks to his performance and consistency. He's a big man, and his physique is ready to make a big impact," he said.

Behind the scrum, the All Blacks maintain the same defensive line despite their attacking struggles against the Pumas in Córdoba City. Billy Proctor remains at centre and Rieko Ioane at wing.

Centre Billy Proctor returns to form with Jordie Barrett, while wing Rieko Ioane will form a defensive back three with full back Will Jordan and wing tryman Sevu Reece.

The midfielders proved effective at Kempes Stadium and will also maintain the leadership role with fly-half Beauden Barrett and scrum-half Cortez Ratima, who are key to the game.

The bench includes Sititi and Tamaiti Williams, also injured, and Samisoni Taukei'aho, Pasilio Tosi, and Josh Lord as cover forwards for an All Blacks side trailing 6-2.

Pour leur revanche face aux All Blacks, les Pumas cherchent à se racheter lors de la deuxième journée du 14e Championnat de Rugby 2025, qui se jouera au stade Club Vélez Sársfield de la ville autonome de Buenos Aires.

Los All Blacks ganaron a Los Pumas 41-24 (31-10) en debut del 14º Rugby Championship 2025, en el estadio Mario Alberto Kempes en Ciudad de Córdoba, y son los nuevos líderes del ranking mundial.

En el otro encuentro de primera ronda del máximo torneo del hemisferio sur, los Springboks en su feudo del Ellis Park de Johannesburgo cayeron ante los Wallabies por 38-22 y perdieron el primado.

Los All Blacks en la alta intensidad, mejoraron en final del primer tiempo con un try del tercera línea Ardie Savea, el mejor jugador del partido, seguido del segundo try del wing Sevu Reece.

Con una ventaja de 31-10 a la pausa, Nueva Zelanda, contuvo remontada de Argentina liderada por el full back cordobés Juan Cruz Mallía, que lanzó al wing mendocino Rodrigo Isgró al try en la bandera.

En el segundo tiempo, Los Pumas fueron al abordaje y marcaron con el apertura tucumano Tomás Albornoz y el octavo cordobés Joaquín Oviedo, de destacada performarce anotando su 4º ensayo bajo los postes.

Pero la indisciplina fue la constante en los Pumas a con penales cometidos, por 4 neozelandeses, y que se cobró la amarilla al pilar Mayco Viva. Los All Blacks anotaron 6 ensayos por 3 de Los Pumas.

El hooker suplente neozelandés Samisoni Taukei’aho anotó dos tries en los últimos minutos para sellar el 41-24 en primer turno del 14º Rugby Championship sy devolver a All Blacks la cima del ranking mundial.

Los All Blacks alcanzaron el 1º lugar del ranking por primera vez desde 2021, superando a bicampeones del mundo, Sudáfrica, que cayó ante Australia por 38-22 en Johannesburgo en el primer partido del torneo.

El wing Sevu Reece también anotó un doblete para los visitantes, mientras que el apertura Beauden Barrett anotó 11 puntos y fue jugador clave con sus patadas tácticas.

Mientras que Tomás Albornoz, anotó 14 puntos, incluyendo un try, pero los Pumas no pudieron romper su racha de 15 partidos sin ganar en Argentina, a los All Blacks.

Con éste marcador los neozelandeses mantienen el invicto en lo que va de la temporada tras ganar la serie de julio a Francia por 3-0.

Momento culminante del partido, cuando los All Blacks perdieron al centro Billy Proctor por tarjeta amarilla y los Pumas acortaron el pasivo a 31-24 con el try espectacular de Joaquín Oviedo, figura del partido.

Pero el hooker suplente de los All Blacks, Taukei'aho, desanimó a la multitud al abrirse paso en el tráfico para anotar dos veces a los 68’ y 73’, tries determinantes.

Para el capitán de los All Blacks, el segunda línea Scott Barrett,  "Hablamos de empezar bien y creo que lo logramos. Terminamos el segundo tiempo  bastante fuertes; y fue una declaración de intenciones".

Ahora Pumas y All Blacks van por revancha el próximo sábado en el estadio José Amalfitani en Ciudad de Buenos Aires; y completan Springboks y Wallabies en otra revancha en DHL Stadium de Ciudad del Cabo.

New Zealand withstood a comeback from Argentina and climbed to first place in the world rugby rankings

The All Blacks defeated Los Pumas 41-24 (31-10) in the debut of the 14th Rugby Championship 2025 at the Mario Alberto Kempes Stadium in Córdoba City, and are the new leaders of the world rankings.

In the other first-round match of the southern hemisphere's premier tournament, the Springboks fell to the Wallabies 38-22 at Ellis Park in Johannesburg and lost the championship.

The All Blacks, playing at high intensity, improved at the end of the first half with a try from back-row Ardie Savea, the man of the match, followed by a second try from winger Sevu Reece.

With a 31-10 lead at the break, New Zealand held off an Argentine comeback led by Córdoba full-back Juan Cruz Mallía, who fired a try past Mendoza winger Rodrigo Isgró at the flag.

In the second half, Los Pumas attacked and scored through Tucumán fly-half Tomás Albornoz and Córdoba number eight Joaquín Oviedo, who delivered an outstanding performance, scoring his fourth try between the posts.

But the Pumas' indiscipline was a constant, with four New Zealanders committing penalties and a yellow card for prop Mayco Viva. The All Blacks scored six tries to Los Pumas' three.

New Zealand substitute hooker Samisoni Taukei'aho scored two tries in the final minutes to seal a 41-24 victory in the first round of the 14 Rugby Championship and return the All Blacks to the top of the world rankings.

The All Blacks reached number one in the rankings for the first time since 2021, overtaking two-time world champions South Africa, who fell to Australia 38-22 in Johannesburg in the tournament opener.

Winger Sevu Reece also scored a brace for the visitors, while fly-half Beauden Barrett scored 11 points and was a key player with his tactical kicks.

Meanwhile, Tomás Albornoz scored 14 points, including a try, but the Pumas were unable to break their 15-match winless streak in Argentina against the All Blacks.

 

With this score, the New Zealanders remain unbeaten this season after winning the July series against France 3-0.

The highlight of the match was when the All Blacks lost center Billy Proctor to a yellow card, and the Pumas reduced the deficit to 31-24 with a spectacular try from Joaquín Oviedo, the star of the match.

But All Blacks backup hooker Taukei'aho roused the crowd by weaving through traffic to score two crucial tries in the 68th and 73rd minutes.

For All Blacks captain, second-row Scott Barrett, "We talked about starting well, and I think we did. We finished the second half pretty strong; and it was a statement of intent."

Now the Pumas and All Blacks will seek revenge next Saturday at José Amalfitani Stadium in Buenos Aires. The Springboks and Wallabies will complete the rematch at DHL Stadium in Cape Town.

Les All Blacks ont battu Los Pumas 41-24 (31-10) lors du premier match du 14e Championnat de rugby 2025 au stade Mario Alberto Kempes de Córdoba, et sont désormais leaders du classement mondial.

Lors de l'autre match du premier tour du tournoi majeur de l'hémisphère sud, les Springboks se sont inclinés 38-22 face aux Wallabies à Ellis Park, à Johannesburg, perdant ainsi le championnat.

 

Les All Blacks, jouant à haute intensité, ont amélioré leur jeu en fin de première mi-temps grâce à un essai du troisième ligne Ardie Savea, élu homme du match, suivi d'un deuxième essai de l'ailier Sevu Reece.

Menant 31-10 à la pause, la Nouvelle-Zélande a résisté à une remontée argentine menée par l'arrière de Córdoba, Juan Cruz Mallía, qui a inscrit un essai au pied du drapeau, trompant l'ailier de Mendoza, Rodrigo Isgró.

Grâce à ce score, les Néo-Zélandais restent invaincus cette saison après avoir remporté la série de juillet contre la France 3-0.

Le moment fort du match a été la perte du pivot Billy Proctor, sanctionné d'un carton jaune, par les All Blacks. Les Pumas ont réduit l'écart à 31-24 grâce à un essai spectaculaire de Joaquín Oviedo, la star du match.

Mais le talonneur remplaçant des All Blacks, Taukei'aho, a enflammé la foule en se faufilant à travers le trafic pour inscrire deux essais cruciaux aux 68e et 73e minutes.

Pour le capitaine des All Blacks, le deuxième ligne Scott Barrett, « On parlait de bien commencer, et je pense que c'est ce qu'on a fait. On a plutôt bien terminé la seconde période ; c'était une déclaration d'intention».

Les Pumas et les All Blacks chercheront désormais leur revanche samedi prochain au stade José Amalfitani de Buenos Aires. Les Springboks et les Wallabies disputeront le match revanche au DHL Stadium du Cap.

Los resultados en la primera ronda del 14º Rugby Championship 2025, provocaron gran impacto en el ranking mundial en domingo 17 de agosto, con los Springboks que perdieron el primado a manos de los All Blacks.

La derrota de los Springboks ante los Wallabies por 38-22 en el Ellis Park de Johannesburgo provocó el descenso de los bicampeones del mundo, al tercer escalón, mientras que los All Blacks tras superar a los Pumas por 41-24 en el Mario Alberto Kempes de Ciudad de Córdoba, alcanzaron el primado.

El primer equipo del hemisferio norte, Irlanda, se encaramó al 2º  puesto, superando a Sudáfrica, que retrocedió al 3º lugar, escalando al segundo, no obstante no haber jugado éste fin de semana.

La derrota de Sudáfrica ante Australia, le costó tres puntos en el ranking y significó que es la primera vez desde su triunfo en la X Copa Mundial en Francia 2023, que no ocupa el primado en escalafón mundial.

El resultado de ayer sábado marcó el primer revés de los Springboks en su feudo sudafricano, frente a los Wallabies en 12 años, y fue la primer victoria de Australia en Johannesburgo desde 1963.

A pesar de ganar tres puntos en ranking con triunfo sobre los bicampeones del mundo, los Wallabies se mantienen en 6º lugar, lo mismo que los Pumas entrenados por el porteño Felipe Contepomi, en el 7º peldaño, pero apremiados por Escocia que está 8º.

Sin embargo, el equipo entrenado por el neozelandés Joe Schmidt, redujo significativamente la diferencia con Francia que está  4º y con  Inglaterra que detenta el 5º,  respectivamente.

Australia, con seis tries, logró una remontada notable pasando del pasivo 0-20, para vencer a Sudáfrica por 38-22 y ganar en el mítico Ellis Park por primera vez desde 1963.

The results in the first round of the 14 Rugby Championship 2025 had a major impact on the world rankings on Sunday, August 17, with the Springboks losing the top spot to the All Blacks.

The Springboks' 38-22 defeat to the Wallabies at Ellis Park in Johannesburg dropped the two-time world champions to third place, while the All Blacks, after defeating the Pumas 41-24 at the Mario Alberto Kempes Stadium in Córdoba City, took the top spot.

The top team from the northern hemisphere, Ireland, climbed to second place, overtaking South Africa, which dropped back to third, climbing to second, despite not playing this weekend.

South Africa's defeat to Australia cost them three ranking points and meant it was the first time since their triumph at the 10th World Cup in France in 2023 that they had not held the top spot in the world rankings.

Yesterday's result marked the Springboks' first defeat on their home soil, against the Wallabies, in 12 years, and Australia's first victory in Johannesburg since 1963.

Despite gaining three ranking points with a win over the two-time world champions, the Wallabies remain in 6th place, the same as the Pumas, coached by Buenos Aires’s Felipe Contepomi, in 7th, but pressured by Scotland, who are in 8th.

However, the team coached by New Zealander Joe Schmidt significantly closed the gap with France, which is fourth, and England, which holds fifth, respectively.

Australia, with six tries, achieved a remarkable comeback from 0-20 down to beat South Africa 38-22 and win at the legendary Ellis Park for the first time since 1963.

L'Irlande, meilleure équipe de l'hémisphère nord, a grimpé à la deuxième place, dépassant l'Afrique du Sud, rétrogradée à la troisième place, malgré son absence ce week-end.
