Hoy martes 30 de agosto de 2022, es un momento muy significativo para recordar en el rugby de siempre, de haber compartido con otros colegas, particularmente, con el sudafricano Dan Retief, el neozelandés Ian Gault y el australiano Terry Smith, el nacimiento de la máxima competición rugbística del hemisferio sur.

Primero se llamó Trinations con Australia, Nueva Zelanda y Sudáfrica hasta 2011;  y  luego se transformó en el Rugby Championship con el ingreso de Argentina, desde el 2012 hasta el presente. Donde se está disputando el 10º torneo, que tiene como líder a Los Pumas, escoltados por los Wallabies, All Blacks y Springboks.

Ese momento trascendente se remonta a Ciudad del Cabo, capital legislativa de Sudáfrica, y en mítico Estadio de Newlands, cuando surgieron las bases del acuerdo en agosto de 1992, al final de la serie del regreso de Sudáfrica a la competición internacional tras ;a sanción de Naciones Unidas por el ‘’Apartheid’’ (Cultura y Razas separadas) del Gobierno sudafricano.

Y el gran acontecimiento del que fui testimonio, fueron los tests matches Springboks vs All Blacks (14-27) en el Ellis Park de Johannesburgo el 15 de agosto de 1992,  y del  test match Springboks (3) vs Wallabies (26)  en el Newlands de Ciudad del Cabo el 29 de agosto de 1992. Fueron otros tiempos, y el mayor de los afectos a los amigos Dan, Ian y Terry. Bendiciones.

Remembrances of the birth of the Tri Nations and which later became the Rugby Championship from 2012

Today, Tuesday, August 30, 2022, is a very significant moment to remember in rugby as always, having shared with other colleagues, particularly with the South African Dan Retief, the New Zealander Ian Gault and the Australian Terry Smith, the birth of top rugby competition in the southern hemisphere.

It was first called Trinations with Australia, New Zealand and South Africa until 2011; and then became the Rugby Championship with the entry of Argentina, from 2012 to the present. Where the 10th tournament is being played, led by Los Pumas, escorted by the Wallabies, All Blacks and Springboks.

That momentous  dates back to Cape Town, the legislative capital of South Africa, and the mythical Newlands Stadium, when the bases of the agreement emerged in August 1992, at the end of the series of South Africa's return to international competition after  sanction of  United Nations for the ''Apartheid'' (Separate Culture and Races) of  South African Government.

And the great event that I witnessed was the Springboks vs All Blacks (24-27) test matches at Ellis Park in Johannesburg on August 15, 1992, and the Springboks vs Wallabies (3-26) test match at the Newlands of Cape Town on August 29, 1992. Those were other times, and the greatest affection goes to friends Dan, Ian and Terry. Blessings.

Aujourd'hui, mardi 30 août 2022, est un moment très important à retenir dans le rugby comme toujours, d'avoir partagé avec d'autres confrères, notamment avec le Sud-Africain Dan Retief, le Néo-Zélandais Ian Gault et l'Australien Terry Smith, la naissance du maximale compétition de rugby dans l'hémisphère sud.

Il s'appelait d'abord Trinations avec l'Australie, la Nouvelle-Zélande et l'Afrique du Sud jusqu'en 2011; puis est devenu le Rugby Championship avec l'entrée de l'Argentine, de 2012 à nos jours. Où se joue le 10e tournoi, mené par Los Pumas, escorté par les Wallabies, les All Blacks et les Springboks.

Ce moment mémorable remonte à Cape Town, la capitale législative de l'Afrique du Sud, et au mythique Newlands Stadium, lorsque les bases de l'accord ont émergé en août 1992, à l'issue de la série du retour de l'Afrique du Sud à la compétition internationale après la sanction de l'Organisation des Nations Unies pour l'''apartheid'' (culture et races séparées) du gouvernement sud-africain.
