Los Dogos XV tras superar a Tarucas 18-13 (10-6) en la 10ª  ronda del IV Super Rugby Americas, disputada en el estadio del Córdoba Athletic Club a lleno completo, se  consolidaron como únicos líderes del certamen continental.

La 10ª jornada, que finalizó en sábado 2 de mayo, dejó en el primado a la franquicia cordobesa con protagonismo del flanker Valentín Cabral, del centro Faustino Sánchez Valarolo, del wing Mateo Soler Filloy, del full back Mateo Sánchez (marcó el primer try) y del hooker Juan Ignacio Greising Revol, apoyando su 11º try.

Los Dogos XV entrenados por Diego Ghiglione, Galo Álvarez Quiñones y Stéfano Ambrosio, disputaron un cerrado e intenso encuentro contra los Tarucas tucumanos entrenados por Álvaro Galindo, Diego Ternavasio y Diego Vidal.  

Con un pie y medio en la siguiente fase, Los Dogos XV deberán afrontar tres partidos seguidos como visitantes antes del cierre de la clasificación: en la 11ª fecha del 9 de mayo, a Selknam en Santiago de Chile, en la 12ª fecha del 22 de mayo a Peñarol en Montevideo, en la 13ª fecha a Yacaré XV en Luque  y en la 14ª fecha tendrá fecha libre en cierre de la fase regular.

El triunfo de Capibaras XV del Litoral sobre los Pampas porteños (28-21) en esta jornada también favoreció a la franquicia de Córdoba, permitiéndoles estirar la ventaja en la lucha por la localía en los playoffs.

A falta de cuatro jornadas para el cierre de la fase regular, la lucha por el cuarto puesto se intensifica entre los Selknam fueguinos y los Tarucas de San Miguel de Tucumán, mientras que los Dogos XV, los Pampas y los Capibaras XV, comienzan a asegurar sus lugares en la definición de semifinales del torneo.

The Dogos XV, with character, skill, and attitude, are the undisputed leaders.

After defeating Tarucas 18-13 (10-6) in the 10th round of the IV Super Rugby Americas, played at the packed Córdoba Athletic Club stadium, the Dogos XV consolidated their position as the sole leaders of the continental tournament.

The 10th round, which concluded on Saturday, May 2nd, saw the Córdoba franchise take the top spot, thanks in large part to flanker Valentín Cabral, center Faustino Sánchez Valarolo, wing Mateo Soler Filloy, fullback Mateo Sánchez (who scored the first try), and hooker Juan Ignacio Greising Revol, who netted his 11th try.

The Dogos XV, coached by Diego Ghiglione, Galo Álvarez Quiñones, and Stéfano Ambrosio, played a close and intense match against the Tarucas from Tucumán, coached by Álvaro Galindo, Diego Ternavasio, and Diego Vidal.

With one foot already in the next phase, the Dogos XV will have to play three consecutive away games before the end of the qualifying round: on May 9th, they will face Selknam in Santiago, Chile; on May 22nd, they will play Peñarol in Montevideo; on May 13th, they will face Yacaré XV in Luque; and on May 14th, they will have a bye to close out the regular season.

The victory of Capibaras XV from the Litoral region over the Pampas from Buenos Aires (28-21) on this matchday also benefited the Córdoba franchise, allowing them to extend their lead in the fight for home-field advantage in the playoffs.

With four rounds remaining in the regular season, the battle for fourth place intensifies between the Selknam from Tierra del Fuego and the Tarucas from San Miguel de Tucumán, while the Dogos XV, Pampas, and Capibaras XV are beginning to secure their spots in the tournament semifinals.

En debut del III Rugby Championship M20, Junior Springboks salieron con ímpetu, aturdiendo a  los Pumitas para ganar por 48-21 (36-0) en el Nelson Mandela Bay de Port Elizabeth, sureste sudafricano.

En ese teatro de los sueños que es el Nelson Mandela Stadium de Gqeberha (ex Port Elizabeth), y ante 11.000 espectadores los Baby Boks marcaron 8 tries por 3 de los Pumitas.

Antes los All Blacks Juniors ganaron con lo justo a Wallabies Juniors 34-29 (12-24). Los australianos que siempre estuvieron en ventaja, sufrieron tres amonestaciones que limitaron su performance.

El próximo domingo, 3 de mayo, se enfrentarán en segunda ronda, los All Blacks Juniors y Los Pumitas a las 09:00 (hora argentina) y luego los Juniors Springboks con los Wallabies Juniors  (11:10)

Los Junior Springboks dominaron desde el principio y, apenas dos minutos después, el centro y Jugador del Partido, Ethan Adams, se abrió paso entre varios defensores para marcar.

Junior Springboks' Relentless Attack Stuns Los Pumitas

In their opening match of the III Rugby Championship U20, the Junior Springboks came out firing, stunning Los Pumitas to win 48-21 (36-0) at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, southeastern South Africa.

In the dreamlike setting of Nelson Mandela Stadium in Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth), and before 11,000 spectators, the Baby Boks scored 8 tries to Los Pumitas' 3.

Earlier, the All Blacks Juniors narrowly defeated the Wallabies Juniors 34-29 (12-24). The Australians, who were always ahead, suffered three yellow cards that hampered their performance.

Next Sunday, May 3rd, the All Blacks Juniors will face Los Pumitas in the second round at 9:00 AM (Argentine time), followed by the Junior Springboks against the Wallabies Juniors at 11:10 AM.

The Junior Springboks dominated from the start, and just two minutes in, center and Man of the Match, Ethan Adams, broke through several defenders to score.

However, the Baby Boks' performance dipped in the second half, scoring only two tries, while Los Pumitas, with renewed energy, scored three tries, one by flanker Tomás Dande and another by number eight Federico Torre.

It was a hard-fought second half, and the Junior Springboks, with backup prop Oliver Reed, took until the 51st minute to break through the Pumitas' defense, which included several substitutes.

Fly-half Yaqeen Ahmed displayed his full talent and was the star of the match, supported by right wing Jack Benade and center Ethan Adams.

But Los Pumitas came out fighting after the hour mark, when Federico Torre (Córdoba Athletic Club) scored their first try, converted by fly-half Manuel Giannantonio (Tala Rugby Club).

Los Pumitas celebrated when flanker and captain Tomás Dande (Huirapuca Concepción) scored a powerful try, and then Federico Torre added a brace, both converted by Manuel Giannantonio.

Pumitas debutan en III Rugby Championship M20- Argentina's U20 Pumitas Debut in the III U20 Rugby Championship

Pumitas M20 debutarán mañana lunes en III Rugby Championship M20, en Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), sureste sudafricano, ante anfitriones, Juniors Springboks a partir de las 11:10 hora argentina.

El Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, será el teatro de los sueños para la nueva generación de Pumitas, que son reflejos de sus progenitores, que también se calzaron la camiseta albiceleste de los M19.

El encuentro entre los Junior Boks y Los Pumitas comenzará a las 11:10, hora argentina, tras el partido inaugural del torneo entre Nueva Zelanda y Australia previsto a las 09:00 hora argentina.

Entre emociones de dimensiones inconmensurables, el flanker y capitán Tomás Dande (Huirapuca de Concepción), hará recordar a su padre, el segunda línea Hugo Dande (Los Tarcos de Tucumán), que jugó en el FIRA 1993.

Fui testigo, donde Dande formó segunda línea con el riocuartence Mondino (Urú Curé), en Pumitas M19 que ganaron a Francia 31-29 con conversión del apertura porteño Fuselli, al try del wing porteño D´Angelo.

Como ahora, el apertura Manuel Giannantonio del Tala Rugby Club, será el reflejo de su padre, el centro del Tala Rugby Club, Diego Giannantonio que fue protagonista y goleador en FIRA Madrid 1992.

También fui testigo donde Diego Giannantonio, jugó en Pumitas que cayeron en final ante Francia por 22-18, junto al wing Julián Légora (La Tablada)  y el flanker Marcos Menta (Club Universitario).

Ahora, en el primero de los tres partidos del Torneo, Los Pumitas M20 enfrentarán mañana lunes, a los Júniors Springboks,  con el referato del porteño Gonzalo de Achával.

 Ambos equipos se enfrentarán nuevamente desde la semifinal del Mundial M20 que tuvo lugar en 2025 en Italia, donde Sudáfrica se impuso por 48-24.

El III Rugby Championship M20 se disputa en sede única y todos los partidos son contra todos a una sola ronda.

En este 2026, el escenario será el Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium de Gqeberha (ex Port Elizabeth), donde también llegarán Australia M20 y Nueva Zelanda M20, que ya ganó las ediciones de 2024 y 2025.

El entrenador porteño Nicolás Fernández Miranda también fue Pumita M19 (fue medio scrum de los campeones en Mundial FIRA M19 de 1991, disputado en Toulouse, Francia.

Argentina's U20 Pumitas Debut in the III U20 Rugby Championship

 

The Argentina U20 Pumitas will make their debut tomorrow, Monday, in III U20 Rugby Championship in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), southeastern South Africa, against the hosts, the Junior Springboks, starting at 11:10 AM Argentinian time.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium will be the stage for dreams for the new generation of Pumitas, who are reflections of their fathers, who also wore the Argentine U19 jersey.

The match between the Junior Springboks and Los Pumitas will begin at 11:10 AM Argentinian time, following the tournament's opening match between New Zealand and Australia, scheduled for 9:00 AM Argentinian time.

Amidst overwhelming emotions, flanker and captain Tomás Dande (Huirapuca de Concepción) will evoke memories of his father, second-row Hugo Dande (Los Tarcos de Tucumán), who played in the 1993 U19 FIRA tournament.

The two teams will face each other again since the semifinal of the U20 World Cup held in Italy in 2015, where South Africa prevailed 48-24.

The III Rugby Championship U20 is being played at a single venue, and all matches are a single round-robin tournament.

In 2026, the venue will be Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth), where Australia U20 and New Zealand U20 will also compete. New Zealand has already won the 2024 and 2025 editions.

Buenos Aires´s coach Nicolás Fernández Miranda was also a member of Argentina U19 team (he was a scrum-half for the champions at the 1991 FIRA U19 World Cup, held in Toulouse, France).
