 En Murrayfield, Edimburgo, los Highlanders de Escocia arrancaron un 15-13 a los Wallabies,  interrumpiendo 5 triunfos seguidos;   por lo que Escocia equilibró el marcador en 2-2 entre los dos hemisferios, al ganar Francia a Argentina, contra triunfos de Sudáfrica y Nueva Zelanda ante Gales e Italia, respectivamente.

Escocia  en domingo 7,  ya había vencido a Australia en los dos últimos choques anteriores, pero los Wallabies entrenados por el neozelandés Dave Rennie llegaron  en su mejor momento de forma desde aquella secuencia de siete victorias consecutivas en septiembre y octubre de 2015.

El penal del apertura Finn Russell a los 12’ del final logró la ventaja mínima,  y que provocó  a que el flanker escocés Hamish Watson expresara "Algo especial se está construyendo aquí". Watson había abierto el marcador con try en un tenso momento, marcando a los  22’ tras un line out.

El flanker y capitán australiano Michael Hooper  apoyó un try, pero el TMO no lo convalidó y el pilar derecho australiano - Allan Alaalatoa tuvo tarjeta amarilla por atrapar al octavo escocés Matt Fagerson en la cara. Un penal del apertura James O'Connor,  fueron únicos puntos para Australia en el primer tiempo.

Con  14 los Wallabies tuvieron su primera ventaja a comienzo del segundo tiempo con try del flanker Rob Leota, pero Escocia replicó con el debutante hooker canadiense  Ewan Ashman que apoyó en la bandera. Otro penal de O'Connor puso a Australia adelante, pero Russell con su penal dio a Escocia la anhelada victoria.

Para Escocia marcaron 2 tries Hamish Watson (22') y Ewan Ashman (59'), más 1 Penal (69’) y 1 Conversión (24’) de Finn Russell. Para Australia 1 try de Robert Leota (45’), más 2  Penales  (40’, 65’) y 1 Conversión (46') de James O’Connors.

At Murrayfield, Edinburgh, the Scottish Highlanders started 15-13 against the Wallabies, interrupting 5 straight wins; so Scotland balanced the score at 2-2 between the two hemispheres, with France winning over Argentina, against South Africa and New Zealand's triumphs against Wales and Italy, respectively.

Scotland on Sunday 7, had already beaten Australia in the last two previous games, but the Wallabies coached by New Zealander Dave Rennie were in their best form since that sequence of seven consecutive victories in September and October 2015.

Opening penalty goal of fly half Finn Russell's at 12 ' achieved the minimal advantage, prompting Scottish flanker Hamish Watson to express "Something special is being built here." Watson had opened the scoring with a try in a tense moment  at 22' after a line out.

Australian captain and flanker Michael Hooper supported a try, but the TMO did not validate it and the Australian right-wing prop - Allan Alaalatoa was booked for catching eighth Scotsman Matt Fagerson in the face. A James O'Connor opening penalty kick was Australia's only points in the first half.
