Pumas 7s face Fiji in Gold Cup Quarterfinals at Wellington

GERMAN SCHULTZ Y GASTÓN REVOL, EL ATAQUE ARGENTINO EN WELLINGTON

Luego de ganar a Estados Unidos y Escocia y perder ante Canadá, los Pumas 7 disputarán ésta noche (23:39 hora argentina) frente a Fidji los cuartos de final en Copa de Oro del Seven de Wellington en Nueva Zelanda en la quinta fecha del Circuito Mundial de Seven 2013/2014.

Los Pumas 7s superaron a Estados Unidos por 19-14, poniendo en evidencia gran despliegue con los tries del dúo cordobés  Germán Schultz-Gastón Revol y try de Diego Palma; mientras que Gastón Revol sumó dos conversiones.

Ante Escocia los Pumas 7 ganaron  por 17-12, con doblete de Facundo Panceyra Garrido (el primero con carrera “cost to cost” de 70 metros) y try de Franco Sábato; mientras que Gastón Revol sumó una conversión. Ante Canadá la escuadra nacional cayó por 24-5 por lo que terminó segundo en el grupo C y encontrará a Fidji en cuartos de final de Copa de Oro.

Para el Dogo Gastón Revol “El primer día fue positivo en el sentido que logramos el objetivo de clasificar a la Copa de Oro, pero nos quedó el sabor amargo de haber perdido el último partido y, sobre todo, por haber jugado mal y cometido tantos errores. Ahora tenemos que descansar y pensar en la próxima etapa”.

“Tenemos que confiar en nuestro plan de juego, jugar colectivamente y cumplir con lo que venimos trabajando. En defensa es importante volver a hacernos fuertes y aumentar nuestros minutos de buenas acciones defensivas para lograr una mayor solidez y que no nos quiebren tanto”, sentenció el “utility back” de La Tablada.

Sobre los cuartos de ésta noche, apuntó: “Fidji es un rival de suma dificultad y está claro que debemos hacer las cosas al 100 por ciento para tener mayores posibilidades de obtener una victoria. Será clave tener la posesión de la pelota, ya que Fidji cambia mucho en ataque y en defensa; en ofensiva son tremendamente peligrosos”.

After winning the U.S. and Scotland and losing against Canada, the Pumas 7 played tonight (23:39 Argentina time) against Fiji in the quarterfinals of the Gold Cup at Wellington Sevens in New Zealand on the fifth round  of  World Seven Series 2013/2014.

The Pumas outscored USA 7s 19-14, highlighting great display with tries from Cordoba duo German Schultz-Gaston Revol and try of Diego Palma , while Gaston Revol added two conversions.

Against Scotland the Pumas 7 won 17-12 , with doublet try of Facundo Panceyra Garrido (the first race "cost to cost" of 70 meters) and Franco Sabato the another try, while Gaston Revol added a conversion. Against  Canada the Pumas 7  fell 24-5, so finished second in Group C and will find Fiji in the quarterfinals of Gold Cup.

For Dog Gaston Revol "The first day was positive in the sense that we can in order to qualify for the Gold Cup, but we left the bitter taste of losing the last game and, above all, for having played badly and made so many errors . Now we have to rest and think about the next step ".
