Bajo la lluvia y la temperatura de 13º en otoño londinense, Argentina sorprendió propios y extraños ganando con determinación a Inglaterra por 30-29 (12-16) en la Catedral de Twickenham, inaugurando su gira británica que seguirá el próximo sábado ante Gales en el Estadio Principality de Cardiff y concluirá el sábado19 frente a Escocia en el Estadio Murrayfield en Edimburgo.

Argentina no ganaba a Inglaterra en Twickenham desde el 2006 (por 25-18). Y si bien Inglaterra era favorita para los apostadores británicos para ganar por 7 puntos,  la escuadra entrenada por el australiano Michael Cheika, consiguió en el décimo partido ganarlo para equilibrar la cuenta en 5 ganados y 5 perdidos.

Factores fundamentales para fueron el apertura cordobés Santiago Carreras y el wing rosarino Emiliano Boffelli,  autores de tries espectaculares que encendieron pasiones en el templo del rugby inglés. El primero tras lanzamiento de Carreras, y el segundo una destreza de Carreras coast to coast de 70 metros  llegar al ingol,

Para derrotar Argentina a Inglaterra en Twickenham por primera vez en 16 años. (la última en 2006 por 25-18), el marcador cambió cuatro veces solo en los últimos 15’, ya que el rosarino Emiliano Boffelli, el máximo anotador del mundo en este año con 100 puntos, y el inglés Owen Farrell, el tercer máximo anotador en la historia de test matches, se intercambiaron envíos a los palos.

 

Entre ambos lograron 14 de 15 intentos con Boffelli, que falló el único penal y  convirtió el último para el 30-29 a 10’ del pitazo final del irlandés Andrew Brace, totalizando una producción de 25 puntos, incluido el brillante primer try concretado tras recibir un espectacular lanzamiento largo de Santiago Carreras.

Los Pumas señalaron progresos  bajo el nuevo entrenador Michael Cheika, desde julio, ganando a los All Blacks en Nueva Zelanda por primera vez, e imponerse en la serie contra Escocia y lideraron el Rugby Championship por primera vez.

Hoy Los Pumas tomaron ventaja psicológica para su próximo encuentro ante Inglaterra en septiembre de 2023 cuando se enfrenten en el Velodrome de en Marsella en el primer fin de semana de la IX Copa Mundial de Francia 2023.

 La fuerte lluvia se detuvo justo antes del comienzo del partido y, aunque salió el sol en el segundo tiempo,  llovieron los penales del win rosarino Emiliano Boffelli y del centro inglés y capitán Owen Farrell que clavaron cada uno sus cuatro tiros desde mitad de cancha.

Inglaterra quedó atónita cuando el centro Owen  Farrell lanzó un pase suelto antes de que el pilar izquierdo tucumano Thomas Gallo lo aplastara., y allí Carreras se abalanzó sobre el balón y remató desde 70 metros, convirtiendo Boffelli  el 24-16 y sumando penal para el 27-16.  Era momento trascendente.

Para el capitán Owen Farell, ‘’Hablamos sobre algunos problemas que teníamos en la cancha y que no abordamos, pero no podemos perder la confianza por esto. Tuvimos partes difíciles del juego que debemos mejorar, como en la disciplina y que no estaba sucediendo del todo bien’’.

‘’A veces liberamos la presión en un día húmedo, con una cancha mojada y, como lo vieron, ambos equipos no lo hicieron bien en mover bien la pelota. En cuando a los penales no detuvimos nuestros impulsos y no estuvimos en nuestro mejor momento ya que eso es lo que debemos hace aquí", sentenció Farrell.

Ahora Inglaterra recibe el próximo sábado a Japón, mientras Argentina debe viajar  a Cardiff distante 243  kilómetros de Londres, para enfrentar a Gales en el Principality.

Argentina opened British tour beating England at Twickenham

Under the rain and the temperature of 13º in London's autumn, Argentina surprised locals and strangers by decisively beating England 30-29 (12-16) at Twickenham Cathedral, opening their British tour that will continue next Saturday against Wales at the Cardiff Principality Stadium and will conclude on Saturday 19 against Scotland at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.

Argentina had not beaten England at Twickenham since 2006 (by 25-18). And while England was a favorite for British bettors to win by 7 points, the squad coached by Australian Michael Cheika managed to win it in the tenth game to balance the account at 5 wins and 5 losses.

Key factors for this were the fly-half from Córdoba Santiago Carreras and the wing from Rosario Emiliano Boffelli, authors of spectacular tries that ignited passions in the temple of English rugby. To beat Argentina to England at Twickenham for the first time in 16 years. (the last one in 2006 by 25-18), the scoreboard changed four times only in the last 15', since Rosario Emiliano Boffelli, the top scorer in the world this year with 100 points, and Englishman Owen Farrell, the third highest scorer in the history of test matches, shipments to the posts were exchanged.

For captain Owen Farell, ''We talked about some issues we had on the pitch that we didn't address, but we can't lose confidence over this. We had difficult parts of the game that we need to improve on, like discipline and it wasn't going quite right.

''Sometimes we release the pressure on a humid day, with a wet field and, as you saw, both teams did not do well in moving the ball well. When it came to penalties we didn't stop our momentum and we weren't at our best as that's what we have to do here," Farrell said.

Now England hosts Japan next Saturday, while Argentina must travel to Cardiff, 243 kilometers from London, to face Wales in the Principality.

Nous avons eu des parties difficiles du jeu que nous devons améliorer, comme la discipline et ça n'allait pas tout à fait bien.

'' Parfois, nous relâchons la pression lors d'une journée humide, avec un terrain mouillé et, comme vous l'avez vu, les deux équipes n'ont pas bien réussi à bien déplacer le ballon. En ce qui concerne les pénalités, nous n'avons pas arrêté notre élan et nous n'étions pas à notre meilleur car c'est ce que nous devons faire ici", a déclaré Farrell.

Inglaterra vs Argentina, el gran desafío en domingo de Twickenham- England vs Argentina, the great challenge on Sunday at Twickenham- L’Angleterre contre l’Argentine, le grand défi dimanche à Twickenham

 

Con el esperado choque de Inglaterra - Argentina en la Catedral de Twickenham en el surburbio suroeste de Londres,  del domingo, concluirá el primer tramo de la gira por el otoño-invierno británico de los Pumas, que proseguirá frente a Gales en el Principality de Cardiff y ante Escocia en el Murrayfield de Edimburgo.

Los Pumas, encabezados por el trío cordobés integrado por el segunda línea Matías Alemanno, el apertura Santiago Carreras y el full back Juan Cruz Mallía, tienen como objetivo el triunfo sobre el XV de la Rosa de los Tudor entrenado por el australiano-japonés Eddie Jones.

Será un duro desafío a distancia del último triunfo de Argentina ante Inglaterra por 25-18, un 11 de noviembre de 2006  en el templo de Twickenham. Ahora el plantel entrenado por el australiano Michael Cheika, vela las armas para el enfrentamiento, que también apunta al décimo mundial de Francia 2023.

La columna vertebral de los Pumas, es su pareja de medios, integrada por el apertura cordobés Santiago Carreras y el medio scrum mendocino Gonzalo Bertranou, y en la retaguardia donde destaca el full back cordobés Juan Cruz Mallía, con el wing rosarino Emiliano Boffelli y el wing tucumano Mateo Carreras.

En los delanteros, que deberán dominar el scrum, el line y las formaciones móviles, la bandera es el experimentado segunda línea cordobés Matías Alemanno, con el apoyo del juvenil flanker mendocino Juan Martín González, y la dinámica del juvenil pilar izquierdo tucumano Thomas Gallo.

Se trata para los Pumas, de una redención en éste partido inaugural de la escena del hemisferio norte, de aquellas tres derrotas encajadas en el 10º Rugby Championship, la máxima competición del hemisferio sur, concluída en octubre pasado.

Será el reencuentro para el entrenador australiano de Argentina, Michael Cheika, con el entrenador de Inglaterra Eddie Jones, con quien compartió un pasado de jugador, en tiempos del club Randwick de Sydney.

Para éste debut en Twickenham, Eddie Jones pone todo el foco en la performance del cuarteto integrado por el centro interior Owen Farrell, el capitán del equipo, con el centro exterior Manu Tuilagi que regresa, y completando la plataforma el juvenil apertura Marcus Smith  junto al veterano medio scrum Ben Youngs.

Entre los delanteros hay un debut en Inglaterra con el segunda línea Alex Coles,  que hará pareja con Jonny Hill, completando una primera línea con el vice capitán y pilar izquierdo Ellis Genge, el hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie y el pilar derecho  Kyle Sinckler.

England vs Argentina, the great challenge on Sunday at Twickenham
