Los Pumas están en ventaja anímica, de destreza, potencia y técnica, para apuntar al primado en la alta intensidad ante el poder de los Springboks en el feudo del mítico Kings Park de Durban.

Por 5ta. ronda del 14º Rugby Championship, del sábado a las 12:05 hora argentina, Los Pumas se presentan con todas sus pretensiones para conquistar el cetro del máximo torneo del Hemisferio Sur.

La programación de completa con el otro clásico que tendrá lugar en el Wellington Regional Stadium de la capital neozelandesa a los 02:05 hora argentina entre All Blacks y los Wallabies, que encabezan el certamen.

Por el lado de los Pumas, están en 4º lugar con 9 puntos, por 10 unidades de All Blacks y Springboks, en 2º y 3º lugar, y por detrás de los Wallabies que suman 11 puntos tras cuatro turnos disputados.

El entrenador porteño Felipe Contepomi, presenta una columna vertebral, integrada por el full back Juan Cruz Mallía, el apertura Santiago Carreras, el octavo Joaquín Emanuel Oviedo y el hooker Julián Montoya.

Ellos, son la usina clave del juego, impulsando así el ataque en el juego desplegado y el repliegue defensivo ante la presión aérea y que en la alta intensidad, deberán soportar los 80’ de la competencia.

La figura es Santiago Carreras, apertura máximo anotador del 14º Rugby Championship 2025, con 47 puntos y líder en tabla de metros ganados con el balón en mano, acumulando 155 metros hasta el momento.

El apertura, demostró ser creador y distribuidor, junto al medio scrum tucumano Gonzalo García, tomando decisiones tácticas claves, y encargado de convertir puntos gravitantes en momentos determinantes.

Frente a All Blacks como Wallabies, Santi Carreras, puso en evidencia sólido liderazgo, habilidad de pateo, manejo del balón y rapidez para decidir entre pasar, patear o correr con balón en momentos de posesión.

Para el entrenador porteño Felipe Contepomi, “Santi tuvo dos buenos partidos en Australia, está en un buen momento, entiende lo que queremos hacer y optamos por eso ante los Springboks”.

‘’Son decisiones estratégicas y contemplamos esas opciones. Sabemos del poderío de Sudáfrica en los delanteros, no es la primera vez que ponemos un banco con seis de ellos”.

“Creemos que es la mejor combinación y venimos trabajando para estar en partido los 80’ y terminar fuertes”, sentenció Felipe Contepomi en rueda de prensa en el Kings Park de Durban.

En el pack, al lado del segunda línea cordobés Franco Molina, debutará el bonaerense Lucas Paulos; y esperan en el banco, el rafaelino Pedro Rubiolo, y el porteño Guido Petti Pagadizábal.

En las alturas acechan el poderío físico del pack sudafricano encabezado por Ruan Nortje, y Eben Etzebeth, junto  a primera línea de oficio con Thomas du Toit,  Malcolm Marx, y 1 Ox Nche.

Pero la gran batalla estará en la base del scrum con la maestría sudafricana representada por el octavo Jasper Wiese, y los flankers Pieter-Steph du Toit, y el capitán Siya Kolisi.

Aunque allí se erige frontón encabezado por el octavo cordobés Joaquín Emanuel Oviedo, el entrerriano Marcos Kremer y el porteño Pablo Matera; y espera en el banco el mendocino Juan Martín González.

Sobre el tucumano Tomás Albornoz, Contepomi expresó: “Viene de una cirugía, si bien fue menor, es en la mano, algo de movimiento fino. Se lo vio mejor y decidimos que estuviera dentro de los 23’’.

En el fondo de los tres cuartos está la mejor opción ofensiva, encabezada por el full back cordobés Juan Cruz Mallía, lanzando al wing tucumano Mateo Carreras y al wing mendocino Rodrigo Isgró.

Regresa como suplente el porteño Simón Benítez Cruz como medio-scrum, en lugar del cordobés Agustín Moyano que jugó los dos tets matches ante Wallabies en Australia.

The Pumas have the advantage in mentality, skill, power, and technique, aiming to prevail in high intensity against the power of the Springboks at the legendary Kings Park in Durban.
