Si bien los míticos Lions Británicos e Irlandeses abren la danza en su gira de ocho partidos por Australia,  el Hemisferio Sur es además el teatro de los sueños para Argentina, Nueva Zelanda y Sudáfrica que son anfitriones de Inglaterra, Francia, Escocia, Italia, Georgia y Samoa. Además, los representantes del Hemisferio Norte también tienen a Irlanda y Gales, visitando Estados Unidos, Canadá y Japón. Argentina recibe a Inglaterra en dos desafíos por Salta y Buenos Aires, donde se inicia para los Pumas un frenesí de 12 tests a lo largo de la temporada que continúa en San Juan ante Georgia, para abordar luego entre agosto y octubre el 4 Naciones ante Sudáfrica, Nueva Zelanda y Australia, concluyendo en noviembre con la visita a Italia, Inglaterra y Gales. Se trata para los Pumas de buscar la mejor performance de un plantel que ya tuvo competencia previa  con los Jaguares involucrados en la Vodacom Cup sudafricana como los Pampas XV y posteriormente en el Sudamericano de Mayores en Montevideo. Además, esos Jaguares buscarán mayor experiencia en la Nations Cup de Bucarest (8-16 de junio) ante Italia A, Rumania y Rusia. Claro que el teatro de los sueños tendrán lugar en el “Padre Martearena” de Salta el sábado, el “José Amalfitani” de Vélez Sársfield en Buenos Aires el sábado 15,  y el “Bicentenario” de San Juan el sábado 22 ante la emergente escuadra de Georgia. Mientras tanto, los Wallabies que tienen programados 12 tests en 2013, velan las armas para medirse con los Lions en tres tests en el “Suncorp Stadium" de Brisbane el 22 de junio, en  el “Etihad Stadium" de Melbourne el 29 de junio y finalizando en el “Allianz Stadium" de Sydney el 6 de julio. Será una espectacular serie para  Australia antes de la segunda edición del  “Rugby Championship”. Mañana comienza en Francia el VI mundial de los M20. Hasta hoy fue patrimonio de dos equipos: Nueva Zelanda en las cuatro primeras ediciones y  Sudáfrica el año pasado. Ambos son los máximos pretendientes; mientras que Gales y Argentina buscarán repetir sus performances de haber sido terceros y cuartos, respectivamente en 2012.

 Inglaterra y Australia llegaron a la final hace dos años, pero parece que  una vez más  los All Blacks  Juniors y los Baby Boks son pretendientes en Francia 2013. Los aspirantes por el Grupo A: Sudáfrica, Francia, Inglaterra y Estados Unidos; por el B: Australia, Fidji, Irlanda y Nueva Zelanda y por el C: Argentina,  Escocia,  Gales  y Samoa.

 Los Pumitas debutarán ante Escocia mañana por el grupo C en el “Pascal Laporte” de Nantes en el Mundial M20 de Francia 2013. El mundial finalizará el sábado 23 de junio en la ciudad de Nantes (noreste francés). Los Pumitas tendrán 7 mundialistas de Sudáfrica 2012: el capitán Felipe Ezcurra, Santiago Iglesias, Matías Díaz, Pablo Matera, Facundo Isa, Joaquín Paz y Santiago Cordero.

Para el entrenador Rodolfo Carlos Ambrosio, el aporte de siete veteranos que disputaron Sudáfrica 2012, es muy importante:  “Fundamentalmente, lo que más aportan, es el espíritu de humildad y sencillez con el que ellos se han manejado y la seriedad con que se preparan, aportando mucho desde el aspecto humano y son  técnicamente aptos”.

 El primer rival Escocia, parece destinado a una ubicación secundaria ya que cosechó sólo dos victorias en el Seis Naciones M20  y ni una sola victoria en el mundial Sudáfrica 2012. Samoa terminó sin victorias en Sudáfrica y, ante todo, su objetivo será conseguir una victoria, evitando volver a “Trophy”,  Mundial Juvenil de ascenso, donde estuvieron en 2011.

Ante Escocia serán titulares los cordobeses Joaquín Paz (centro del Córdoba Athletic) y Germán Schulz (wing del Tala); mientras que serán suplentes Facundo Gigena (pilar de Tala), Tomás Ramírez (pilar Jockey Club Córdoba) y Juan Bernardini (medio scrum de Urú Curé de Río Cuarto). Escocia, el rival de hoy, terminó cuarto en el Seis Naciones M20 del 2013, con dos victorias y tres derrotas. 

Pero el clásico del grupo C será con Gales, que viene de perder solamente un partido en el Seis Naciones M20 al comienzo de 2013.  Hoy los pequeños Dragones Rojos sienten que tienen una buena oportunidad de disputarle a los Pumitas el primado.

“Sobre  lo que hicimos en Sudáfrica,  hay muchas cosas mejoradas. Respecto a los partidos hay que enfrentarlos  analizando fortalezas y debilidades de rivales y las propias, como así también condiciones climáticas, cansancio y lesiones”, apuntó Facundo Soler el entrenador de los Pumitas 2012.

 En cuanto a ganar el título, Rodolfo Ambrosio sentenció: “Los partidos se juegan uno por vez; y estamos concentrados para el debut con Escocia, luego pensaremos en lo que sigue. Ser campeones es nuestro máximo  anhelo”.

El apertura inglés Jonny Wilkinson entró en la leyenda a sus 33 años (34 el próximo 25 de mayo) al consagrarse campeón de Europa como capitán del equipo francés de Toulon y ser ungido Mejor Jugador Europeo del Año a distancia de diez años de haber sido campeón mundial con Inglaterra en Australia 2003.

“Wilko” como siempre lo llamaron en Inglaterra y en Francia, llevó al Toulon a conquistar el título de campeón de Europa batiendo por 16-15 al Clermont en una inédita final francesa disputada en el templo del rugby irlandés: el Landsdowne Road de Dublín.

Con el 10 en la espalda Jonny Wilkinson recibió justa recompensa tras haber vestido en 91 ocasiones la camiseta de Inglaterra, a quien llevó a consagrarse campeón mundial en el Australia 2003 con su drop en tiempo suplementario para superar Australia por 17-14. Como en ésta Copa Europa 2013 con su impresionante performance de 17/17 al pié.

"Soy muy afortunado", murmuró Wilkinson líder de un Toulon en el séptimo cielo por ésta conquista continental frente a un aguerrido  Clermont, al agradecer la distinción por delante de otras figuras como Julien Bonnaire, Wesley Fofana y Sitiveni Sivivatu.

 "Para mí recibir este premio es realmente algo muy, muy especial, incluso porque se produce al final de mi carrera". En esta temporada europea marcó en 593 minutos de juego un total de 108 puntos con una eficacia del  79% en sus envíos con el pie.
