In a historic score, the Pumitas defeated the All Blacks Juniors
25-17 (15-12) in second round of Rugby Championship U20, being held at Nelson
Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth (Geberha), southeastern South Africa.
The Junior Springboks defeated the Wallabies Juniors 56-17 and were
crowned champions of the tournament with 10 points, compared to 4 for the All
Blacks Juniors and Pumitas, and 1 point for the Wallabies Juniors, with one
round remaining to be played on Saturday, May 9.
Federico Serpa opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a try,
and Serpa added another with a penalty in the 25th minute. Haki Wiseman
narrowed the gap in the 33rd minute with a try converted by Mika Muliaina. At
36', there was a penalty try for Argentina U20, and at 39', a try by JD Van Der
Westhuizen for the Baby Blacks.
Yellow cards were shown to Jack Frost at 35' and Ethan Weber at 37'
(both from New Zealand).
