Los Pumas con plantel confirmado disputarán las dos primeras rondas del 14º Rugby Championship 2025, ante los All Blacks, el sábado 16 de agosto en Ciudad de Córdoba y sábado 23 de agosto en Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
En la escuadra donde destacan los cordobeses Juan Cruz Mallía, Santiago Carreras, y Joaquín Oviedo, regresan el rafaelino Santiago Chocobares, los tucumanos Mateo Carreras, Gonzalo García, y Tomás Albornoz, el entrerriano Marcos Kremer y el marplatense Joel Sclavi.
Será una cita histórica para la Ciudad de Córdoba, y en ese teatro de los sueños que es el estadio Mario Alberto Kempes donde Los Pumas regresan tras 11 años de abstinencia (su última presentación fue ante Escocia, que se impuso 21-19 el 20 de junio de 2014).
Para los All Blacks será la cuarta visita a la Ciudad de Córdoba: en 1976 vencieron a la Selección del Interior 30-13; a la vez que en 1985 en el entonces Chateau Carreras los All Blacks ganaron a los Dogos 72-9 y en la última vez, se impusieron por 38-9, en el estadio de Belgrano el 19 de junio de 1991.
Los Pumas y All Blacks se enfrentaron en el 13º Rugby Championship 2024, donde destacó el triunfo argentino por 38-30, en el Estadio Regional de Wellington, y que representó la tercera victoria albiceleste en la historia, y con mayor cantidad de puntos que encajaron los neozelandeses como locales. En la revancha, fue victoria de los All Blacks por 42-10 en el legendario estadio Eden Park en Auckland.
Lo que cuenta, es que el sábado 16 de agosto, a las 18:10 (las 12:10 del domingo en Nueva Zelanda), Córdoba será sede de la primera fecha del 14º Rugby Championship 2025, el mayor certamen del hemisferio sur.
Será
la primera vez que el estadio Estadio Kempes con aforo de 58.000
espectadores, reciba una jornada del certamen que convoca Argentina, Australia,
Nueva Zelanda, y Sudáfrica.
El entrenador porteño Felipe Contepomi, convocó 19 delanteros y 15 tres cuartos, para éstas primeras jornadas del 14º Rugby Championship 2025.

Por el lado de los All Blacks, la serie con los Bleus franceses, dejó sus huellas en la serie de lesionados que obliga al entrenador Scott Robinson, a convocar cuatro debutantes.
Pero dispone ahora de regresos, como las estrellas: el octavo de los Chiefs Wallace Sititi y el pilar derecho de los Crusaders, Tamaiti Williams.
Mientras que el flanker de los Chiefs, Simon Parker, es la incorporación principal; el novato se incorporó directamente al equipo principal tras la serie de julio, ante Les Bleus; incluso puede jugar como octavo.
"Simon Parker tuvo una impresionante temporada en Super Rugby con los Chiefs y aporta un valioso conjunto de habilidades y físico, con el que estamos deseando trabajar", resaltó Scott Robertson.

“Si bien estamos decepcionados por los lesionados que actualmente se recuperan, esto ha generado oportunidades para jugadores que lo merecen, como Tevita Mafileo, Kyle Preston y Leroy Carter, quienes aún no han sido internacionales”, dijo Robertson.
No obstante, Ofa Tu'ungafasi y Asafo Aumua siguen sin estar disponible,s y es probable que se pierdan todo el Rugby Championship debido a las lesiones que afectan a los All Blacks.
“También es fantástico tener a Tamaiti Williams y Wallace Sititi de regreso tras sus lesiones, además de dar la bienvenida al grupo a Peter Lakai, Finlay Christie y Josh Lord”, expresó Scott Robinson.

The Pumas face the All Blacks in the debut of test matches in 14th Rugby Championship 2025
The Pumas, with a confirmed squad, will play the first two rounds of the 14th Rugby Championship 2025 against the All Blacks on Saturday, August 16 in Córdoba and Saturday, August 23 in Buenos Aires.
The squad, which includes Juan Cruz Mallía, Santiago Carreras, and Joaquín Oviedo from Córdoba, also includes Santiago Chocobares from Rafaela, Mateo Carreras, Gonzalo García, and Tomás Albornoz from Tucumán, Marcos Kremer from Entre Ríos, and Joel Sclavi from Mar del Plata.

On the All Blacks' side, the series with the French Blues left its mark on the string of injuries, forcing coach Scott Robinson to call up four debutants.

However, Ofa Tu'ungafasi and Asafo Aumua remain unavailable and are likely to miss the entire Rugby Championship due to injuries affecting the All Blacks.
"It's also fantastic to have Tamaiti Williams and Wallace Sititi back from injury, as well as welcoming Peter Lakai, Finlay Christie, and Josh Lord to the group," Scott Robinson said.
“We have some very exciting and challenging matches ahead, and we’re looking forward to regrouping and getting to work, starting with two test matches against a very strong Los Pumas team,” Robinson concluded.
