Los Pumitas con férrea determinación y carácter
soportaron un feroz segundo tiempo donde se desató la embestida de Sudáfrica
para ganar con autoridad el tercer test M20 en La Plata Rugby Club, en Gonnet,
provincia de Buenos Aires por 27-22.
Los Pumitas ganaban 17-5 al descanso y su
victoria les permitió hacerse con la serie 2-1, ya que Sudáfrica logró ganar el encuentro inaugural
por 26-3 en la Ciudad de Corrientes y luego sufrió derrota por 42-27 en la
misma capital de la Provincia de Corrientes en el noreste argentino.
Ambos países utilizaron las serie de tres desafíos para afinar la preparación para el Campeonato Mundial Juvenil M20, que tendrá lugar en junio en Francia, y donde Argentina debutará en Nantes el 5 de junio ante Escocia por el Grupo C.

Ambrosio, “será muy difícil elegir a los 28 jugadores que integrarán el plantel
mundialista. Los exigimos duramente en toda la preparación y todos respondieron
con gran carácter como personalidad”.
“El objetivo fue de que todo el plantel tenga su posibilidad internacional
que es muy exigente y todos estuvieron compenetrados para ganar a los campeones
del mundo con gran trabajo defensivo. Nos costó mucho marcar puntos, porque desaprovechamos muchas
oportunidades y lo bueno es que surgieron, ya que no fue fácil conseguir la
posesión”, puso de relieve Ambrosio.
El
centro Joaquín Paz autor del primer try argentino, es un veterano del equipo ya
que disputó el mundial Sudáfrica 2012 donde Argentina fue cuarto, opinó: “supimos
transmitirles a los mas chicos la actitud para este tipo de partidos y todos
estuvieron a la altura de las circunstancias manejando el partido, por lo que
hemos dado el primer paso para llegar muy lejos”.
Mientras que
su colega de Sudáfrica Dawie Theron sentenció que “Uno de los grandes aspectos
positivos es el hecho de que la escuadra marcó más tries que Los Pumitas en
cada uno de sus tres partidos. A pesar de
perder, se logró anotar cuatro tries en cada uno de los partidos”.
Al igual que en la derrota sudafricana del martes, el apertura Patricio Fernández hizo la diferencia con 17 puntos para que Argentina ganara, gracias a un try, tres conversiones y dos penales para la victoria por la mínima.

Boks to win with authority the U20 third
